I wonder how many of those sales are actually 3Gs, considering dealerships were flooded with them and the 4G is in short supply (and not because of the demand).
#4
Using the Acura site, there are zero 2022 MDX's on lots (with lots of "1's" in transit) whereas hundreds of 2020's within a 20 mile radius.
They better hope to clear those 2020's out before the TLX Type S hits dealerships.

The death of the sedan continues. The CR-V sold more than double the amount of the Accord. Wow.
Our household hasn't owned a "car" since 2013 and we're probably never going back. Especially now that SUVs and trucks are more efficient, luxurious, and going the electric route; there really isn't a real need for a sedan over an SUV.

Car Crazy for Sure!
park them? There won't be that many Type S TLX's to worry about space. But, maybe Acura is going to "push some out" since the the other TLX's aren't selling.
See...I can be nice...how about you? LOL! Have a great Acura day!!
#7
Type S TLX will be rare and hard to find, won’t need additional space and the 2020’s should all be gone before it even hits the lots.

My dealer sent email saying they are taking $11,500 off the price of the 2020 MDX. That means you can actually get a lot more. They badly want to clear them out.
#9
The cynic in me suspects Acura wanted folks to confuse early year MDX sales for the '22 models when in fact, they are primarily '20 blowouts. Looks great on the sales sheets but we will know the truth once all those older models are gone.

Agree. They are probably extremely happy they are moving anything off of their lots. They know the '22's will probably move as soon as they arrive. And we know the numbers on available '22 's will be low for a few while inventory builds up. Have to keep an eye on these numbers to see where they go month to month. My thought is if they go down, the dealers have finally cleared out <'22's, while the '22's can be selling well.

Whenever there is a changeover it takes a few months for things to level out because there is some “blowing out” of the old model alongside the, hopefully, high demand for the new model.
But setting an all time record isn’t something to ignore. It means at least two things:
The new model is desirable AND Acura has done well with marketing. You usually don’t set all time records with crappy product and crappy marketing. You can have all the blowout sales and great product you want but you still have to get the bodies to the dealership.
There has been a lot of talk about the 2020 models building up especially since I’ve also heard that RDX models are in somewhat short supply. It could be as simple as: Acura had the microchips to make the old MDX and didn’t have the microchips to make the current RDX...? That’s just a guess - I have no expertise in understanding the massively complex and global undertaking that is modern car manufacturing.

Honestly Acura nailed it with the new MDX. The number of people that are buying the new MDX (as per facebook group) vs. TLX is beyond impressive.
Right now, some dealers do not even have MDX. It's sold out.

6G TLX-S
From the way the new 4G MDX's are flying off dealership lots, it clearly demonstrates that even with lesser straight line performance than the outgoing 3G model (due to heavier curb weight but same engine output), accelerating performance and 0-60 numbers have little bearing on how buyers choose their 7-seater SUV's.

The MDX saw a drop in sales when every almost other car in the lineup saw an increase. Looks like the supply issues are very real.

Yeah, I'm now looking at the Audi SQ7 as an alternative for my fiance. I put a deposit down on the first S Type my dealership gets back in early January. Was told S types by early summer back then... Now... I think we'll be lucky to have the f'ing thing by the time snow flies. The whole point was making sure she had AWD by fall.

Sales Highlights
Based on strong product inventories, Honda completed the best four-month sales run in its history, including a new 2nd quarter sales record. Fueled primarily by record truck sales, cars also contributed with Civic and Accord completing a strong 2nd quarter, combining for over 53,000 sales in June.

100% this is true in Canada at least, I am not sure about the US. But MDX is running low in inventory. Certain colors are not available. Waiting time is 60 days. It's not good for Acura. they are losing sells.

Maybe if you were more active in the 4th Gen MDX Forum you would have seen a whole thread dedicated to people who have order their MDX and still haven’t received it because of supply issues.

I'm well aware of the supply issues. In fact I made a point to note that last month as well when there was also a sales drop. I forget who it was on here, but someone was adament about how there isn't a supply issue by pointing out the great Jan/Feb numbers, while completely ignoring that fact that the bulk of those sales were the 2020MY cars that Acura dumped on the dealerships.

Acura could have had another record month if supply wasn't an issue. When I went to buy the new MDX, wait time was 3 months. I had to no choice but to opt in for the 2020 model. At least a I got a few thousand dollar discount.
