Yokohoma S-Drive vs. Falken 452 vs. Kumho Ecsta SPT

Yokohomas-$126
Falkens-$115
Kumhos-$98

All have gotten great reviews online, and the Kumhos beat the Yokohomas in a tirerack.com test.

I'm looking to put these on my 08 TL-S. I live in SoCal so snow/ice isn't an issue. Which one would be the best?

I had the Falkens on my WRX and absolutely loved them. I've heard the kuhmos are good but wear out pretty quick. Never had those yokohamas, but i had the ES100's on my turbo hatch and they grip amazing but didnt have the car long enough to see how long they lasted.

i've got the Kumhos ECSTA ASX tires on my '04 TL...had them put on in january 2007 and as of right now are down to a wear level of 2.5 (out of 5 i think)...they had great grip for a while, but did lose their tread fairly fast...

If you go to a P245/45/17 size, there is a Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tire that ranks #3 overall on www.tirerack.com and gets excellent reviews. $129 each.
The Bridgestone Potenza RE750 is on closeout, $128 each. The Potenzas rank #4 overall.
But........The General Exclaim UHP still ranks #1. The reviews from TL owners on tirerack are all very high for this tire. These are SUMMER tires that also perform well in wet weather. These price out at $86 each.

I've pretty much decided on the Falkens, but I'm still debating between 245/45/17 and 245/40/17. I'll be mounting them on the stock TL-S rims. Which size would be better?

I am leaning towards a P245/40/17 for my next tire. I think the extra width and smaller sidewall will help in handling. The P245/45/17 will work, too. I think that will give a "better" road ride........tough decision........I don't want my Type S to ride too rough.
So you are going with the Falkens 452's? That tire looks great. It is a tough decision on tire brand, but any of the above tires will dramatically improve handling. Good Luck!!
Post some pics of the new tires once you get them!

The Falkens tread life was excellent. My WRX had about 390 AWHP and i was constantly being stupid and breaking all 4 tires loose. So including stupid burnouts i still got about 25,000 miles on them, and they gripped great all the way down til the end of the tread.
