Certainly depends on your finances. Always have had 3 cars with only 2 drivers, so we don't use the TL or the RX7 Turbo in the winter as we have always had a Grand Cherokee to drive. With the "On Demand" QudraTrac transfer case, driving through deep snow is a pleasure, and conquering the 700' driveway is a breeze. We sold the Jeep a couple of years ago as the reapirs were mounting and the 15MPG was getting old, and now use a 2008 knock around vehicle for winter. Equipped with snow tires, although it manages to get the job done, it's certainly not a 4WD SUV. You'll have insurance, maintenance, tags etc to consider when making the decision, but at least you won't be putting mileage on the TL.

Thanks for the input guys!! I am leaning towards the tires!! I just can't decide... $400-500 for tires or $2000 for a 4X4 pick-up for winter and hauling house stuff and what not??? Ah... Decisions... Decisions???

is this a budget buy or do you have the money to freely buy a 4x4 for the winter months without putting the family in risk. If you have the money and you value the look of your TL and wouldnt mind letting it hibernate for the winter months than i would buy a 4x4 thats my

FYI, Sears has the General Altimax Arctic (one of the top rated winter tires by both tirerack.com and consumer reports) 235/45/17 on sale through Saturday for $132.96. $665 out the door mounted, balanced, valve stems, disposal,7% tax.

Plus 6 months same as cash on a Sears card.

Probably going to cha ching online today.....

Got the Generals on now. Good ride, not noisy. A little mushy doing 75 down the highway, but not bad at all. Great traction in snow! Very happy with this winter tire so far!

Winter beater ... I went the winter tires route for 5 years and your car might go in the snow but get the hell beat out of it with the road sand( rocks) and chemicals.

Or how about do nothing. I am driving my TL-S in the snow here in Chicago with the original Michelin's and it does just fine. Save some money and drive as is unless your due for tires or something, but mine drives no problems at all here in Chicago. Plus its not like there is snow on the roads everyday.
