Will 18x9 with 245/40/18 work???

I'm planning to buy an 18x9 wheels with 245/40/18 tires. I have an 05 TL Auto. Is this combo good? I have no plans of dropping the car. So, I guess no rubbing issues. Will the set look nice on my TL? having a 9" wide wheel.

So guys I have no idea on what will be a good set up for my TL. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

while I haven't done any super detailed measurements, it seems like it would work as long as the offset was between 40-45mm. I've found a set of 18x9 wheels with a 42mm offset that I think would look sharp but the problem I run into is when I ask the shops, they all say "our guide doesn't recommend it".

Guess I might just have to experiment...

Thumbs up

I just got TSWs in 18x9 (35 offset) with 245 40 18 Kumhos and they work great. As a matter of fact, I think they look awasome. They are flush or maybe even stick out outside of the wheelwell and I like that. By the way, I do not have any drop.

So, I would think they will work as long as you get the right offset.

Good luck, Mark.

According to the FITMENT GUIDE, they will work. If you're not planning on a drop, I would say yes, they will definitely work...but like the others have said, keep an eye on the offset.

Bumping this old thread because I'm considering 18x9 +24 offset wheels and am wondering how well they will fit and also what tire size.

My gut feel would be to go with a 245/40-18 tire just as the OP was thinking. It is slightly larger (25.7 vs. 25.3), but assuming there is no rubbing then this would be okay with me since it will get rid of some wheel gap.

I'm on the A-Spec suspension and have no plans to drop, trim/roll fenders, etc. Any advice on whether this will rub is appreciated.

i had 18x9.5 +22 with 225/40 tires, -1 camber all around with no fender modification. The fronts rubbed slightly in turns when I hit a bump, but the rear cleared fine. I don't think the 235/40 would fit unless I ran more camber or rolled fenders
