WIll 18X8 with 40mm offset work?

will 18X8 rims with a 40 mm offset work on my 2000 Acura TL? what size tires should I put on there? 235/40/18?

No, that off set is to low for a 8" wheel, you would want 50 offset +

its on an ebay auction and the guy has 1000+ feedback and he says it will fit. will it fit if i put on smaller tires? and i'm on stock height... maybe if i get them and they dont fit i can report him to ebay?

I have 18x8 w/ +45. They work great. I had to trim the plascitc tab

If you really want them, buy them, then grind off 10mm off the inner hub. That will give them a 50mm offset... as long as the wheels are strong enough to grind 10mm off (what is that, 1/3 inch?).

I strongly suggest you don't go with 18X8 w/40-mm. I have the same specs on my rims and haven't trimmed the bumper tab or dropped it yet. I get occassional rubbing when I have people in the back on certain roads. I would shop around a little more and get 18X8 w/50mm offset if you want to stay with the same diameter and width. IMO, the less trimming you have to do on the car or the wheels the better.

Amen brother! Why alter the car to make your wheels fit? Buying the correct size wheels will eliminate the hassles.
