When you drop a car...

Just wondering what parts of the actual suspension get lowered? Im planning on getting H&R coilovers within the next month or two, but im worried about my wheels. Im running 19x9 all around (with a 44 offset) I normally wouldnt be worried, but I dont think ive seen anyone else run 19x9 on the TL besides me. Currently, they ride fine. No rubbing or anything...perfect fit. But when I do decide to get coilovers, do any of the suspension parts come closer to the wheel (mainly the upper wishbone) because im running a tight enough fit as it is.

Why are you getting H&R Coilovers. So much said about Tein SS. I am about to say FCK IT and get coilovers installed where ever I can on friday. I want to drop 1" at first. MAYBE more. Tell me MR. JJaber06. See I called you mister cause you are an adult now.

More to come R U RICH

It says they drop 2" +/- 3/4", so the range of lowering would be from 1.25"-2.75" correct? No rear camber kit needed if only lowerind 1.25" correct? I want to lower 1" all around, but 1.25" is max. Don't want to spend more for camber kit and more install$$$.

NO worries, the only thing that get shorter is the coilover as it compresses.

As the coil compresses, the wheel cambers (rotates in a wide arc, you can see - camber on slammed cars ), but dropping 1.5in shouldn't camber the top of the wheel into the wishbone. I think you said you have the OEM offset +45, but on a 9in rim. The outer face of a 9 in rim with a +45 offset is 13mm "wider" than stock, but at the same time, it's 13mm "wider on the inner face too, giving you 13mm of extra clearance on the "inside".

The 13mm wider outer face may rub on the fenders though.

I can roll the fenders if I need to, i'm mainly worried about running into problems with the wheel hitting other stuff I can't do anything about.

I'm more than confident the inside will be fine.

Why H&R? Just curious. Looks like quality stuff. Big in the Vdub community.
The racing TL uses em, so that can't be bad... Just wondering how they stack up next to the Tein SS.

This is the piece I was worried about it hitting...

With the tire on, I have about a figer gap between the two (hey, clearance is clearnace...its not going anywhere) But when I drop the car, will the wheel get closer to that piece? Anyone with a dropped car wanna report in and possibly take a pic??

H&R's lowering range is 1.2-2.5 in the front and 1.0-2.5 in the rear so bare minimum would be 1.2 and 1.0. H&R makes a great product and I can get you a good price on a set but for the price you pay you get more with the TEIN SS. The H&R coilover does not have dampening adjustment, only ride height adjustment.

Oh really? I thought it had dampening adjustment as well....nevermind then, i'll go with the Tein SS. So when I lower my car, the upper wishbone will not get closer to my wheel? Its that piece that really scares me...its pretty damn close as it is

The wheel is attached to the hub, the hub is attached to the knuckle. The entire assembly moves as one. The knuckle (and upper control arm) is responsible for camber. When you're dropped, you are in the negative for the tires, and so is the knuckle to the same degree. The tire and knuckle both move inward for negative and both move outward for positive camber. So the tire will never be in contact with the knuckle.

If you're still paranoid, disconnect the knuckle from the upper balljoint, then play around with the knuckle arm. You'll see that the hub rotates with it.

Since you have clearance now, then drop all you want.
