When to rotate tires?

I have 18" Aspecs with the Yokohamas. My oil life just dropped to 40% and I am just shy of 4000 miles. Should I go ahead and rotate them now, and then have them rotated back when I get my first service? 4000 seems long without rotation, 7000-8000 sounds even longer.

Acura seems to be shaking up the whole concept of maintenance intervals. Most drivers will change their oil every 5,000-7,00 mi instead of the "traditional" 3,000 and will be rotating their tires every 10,000-15,000mi.

The manual says to rotate at Service B. If you have service A at 7,000 mi, service B would be at about 14,000 mi. Based on your MID's estimation, I would say you don't push your car too hard.

Most tire places recommend to follow manufacturer recommendations but if there are none, they suggest rotation every 6,000-8,000 mi. Do you have uneven front/rear wear? Are the Yokos really sticky and wear quickly? If so, you may want to rotate more frequently.

Doesn't "A1" require the tires rotation?

Who has the owner manual handy now? Please read for us if possible. Ron A isn't around...

Just checked...

You're absolutely right...Tire rotation is with "B" service and with "1". Problem is, not every "A" is an "A1"

So...the only difference between "A1" and "B" is the filter change and inspection. Shouldn't a mechanic inspect all the "usual" things with every oil change anyways?

Ok, thanks again for checking it up.

Besdies, I mentioned this before, many of dealers would simply use their own maintenance schedule (either 03TL's schedule or the dealer's newly-created schedule) to service your 3G TLs. My 1st service (A1 at 4 k) and 2nd service (B at 9k) all received the same 03TL 7500-miles checkup. Acura headquarters seems not to come out the good policies with 3G TL's MID maintenance yet, which will definitely kill dealers' business.

Anyway, I always change the oil and oil filter plus rotate tires at each service schedule.

BTW, my 3rd service is "A1" at 14k. (So, it's A1 -> B -> A1 ->??)

Seems like a lot of wasted money unless potholes seem to be causing you problems. I'm lucky if I do an alignment every 30k miles and rarely do I have a tire wear problem

The reason I am worried about these tires is because I had Yokohama ES100's on my VW and they only lasted 12 months. They wore so quickly it was rediculous, but I was a lot harder on my GTI than the TL. I will keep a close eye and if I notice signifacant wear I will rotate them.

On my last car (Accord) I rotated every oil change (every 3K miles).....on the TL, I just rotated for the first time last weekend at 9756 miles and didn't notice a major difference in tread depth. I'll probably continue to rotate every 10K unless I notice any other reason to.

I rotated my Yokohama AVS db tires every 8,000 - 10,000 miles, and I got 45,000 miles out of them. That was pretty good for a w-rated tire. Especially considering that I have a lead foot, and like to really light 'em up every once in a while.

I figure I'll just rotate the tires every other oil change. (I've been changing oil every 4,000 to 5,000 miles). I don't know about Acura's Oil Life monitor, but on my other car, I change the oil when the monitor gets to to about 30%.

I rotate approximately every 6k miles, which may be a bit much, but with a FWD car like the TL, I wouldn't wait any longer than 10k.
