wheel locks - what brand?

I'm looking for a set of wheel locks for my TL and I've found a set of Kyokugen lugs that's suppose to be lighter and it has a special socket to remove them, but all I've found so far are the open end ones. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know Volk Racing or Rays Engineering has simular lugs, but it's around $130 for a set......ouch.

Us these gorilla locks. All nuts are locks and they look like regular lugs. Sell for around $60

Sorry to intervene here, but did anyone see the gator grip ad, it's basically a wrench that can lock to any kind of shape. I wonder won't that make wheel locks obselete ??

P.S : I use McGard wheel locks though, it's pretty well known and recommended by a TLer TLDaddy .

EDIT : To be exact , it's the splinedrive lug nuts plus one wheel lock, 4 special shape lug nuts and 1 wheel lock for each wheel. check out www.mcgard.com for details.

yes a gator grip will hold onto any nut but only in a space where the damm socket can fit ...i presonally like the spline drive lugs but someone told me those wheel places have a special kit that supplies em with every key available for emergency's when u loose ur key and need to get the lugs off.

I know for a fact that Gorilla ain't got such a kit....my friend lost his key and the code for his locks. Mercedez somehow got one of his lugs off and had it sent to Gorilla so they could find the right key. Now maybe for those foreign made cheaps...anythings possible.

you never said what kind of wheels you have? if you have stock wheels, you need lugnuts and locks with a radius aka domed tip. if you have aftermarket wheels, you will more than likely need acorn aka tapered tips. then the other concern is the diameter of the key socket...it must fit within the openings on the wheel (slightly smaller is preferable so you don't scratch the wheel). one last thing is the type of lug...open ended or closed ended.

Yeah, make sure that the key will fit in the gap between the lug nut and the hole!! I took my car to Americas Tire and they scratched three of my wheels because they put on the wheel locks in a hurry If they were just more careful, it would have been fine...and i just got these wheels last friday!!

This is very true. I have seen damaged wheels using tapered tips on stock OEM wheels. The lugnut seat areas were completed ruined.

Gorilla locks will fit your ride. If you still have stock rims they will have to most likely order them for you.

All you need to get is a nut splitter to get your lock nuts off if you loose your key and key code. I have seen it done many time at Discount Tire.
