What does it mean wheels are made using SSF method?
Seems like there are many different methods of making wheels.
Can some clarify what it means when it says SSF instead of forged? What is the best method of making wheels?
I know forging is better than casting but what is the difference in the following.
Cast & Cast/Spun
Forged & Forged/Spun
SSF & SSF/Spun
(It seems like SSR is the only company making wheels using SSF & SSF/Spun method)
and lastly,
SSF & Forged

SemiSolidForging!
cast wheels are made from metal that is melted down and resolidified.
forged wheels are never melted down...the material is put under extreme forces until it takes the shape of the mold.
so i going to say it's a mix of the two process given the name. taken from tirerack..."In a specialized process perfected by Alumax, uniquely structured alloy billets are heated to a semi solid state (the consistency of soft butter) and molded in a specifically engineered forging press."
