What can you guys tell me about HRE's & Kinesis?
I've been out of the car scene for more than 5 yrs. Back then HRE's were getting pretty hot and it seems like today most BMW's, Ferrari's and so on sport the HRE line. I really wanted to stick with a Japanese rim, but I cant get my head out of the beauty of some of those 3 piece wheels. I have also ran across Kinesis wheels which also look good. What have you heard about these brands and is HRE still as good as it was 5 yrs ago? Also, please dont steer me into Iforged just so I can save a couple bucks, I just got done reading a lot of negative stories about the owner on the BMW forums. Thats a new brand I havent heard of, but the looks are similiar.
Just so you guys know, Im aiming for a deep lip on 19x9's hopefully. Still looking for the perfect match for our car.

HRE & Kinesis = mad $$$ and still 5 years later
Still some of the nicest wheels you can buy. Generally, I see more people putting them on german cars but I would still rock those on my Acura.

Looks like Im not going to be able to do HRE's anymore. They cant give me the lip I want on all 4 wheels.
Here is a quote from the reseller on the HRE's.
"The spoke is on a straight profile which reduces the amount of lip. If we had a more curved profile then I would get more, but not in this case."
Boy its tough finding rims for the Acura TL.

chill, Automatic.
I do have good news now.. a Kinesis wheel can be custom made with a 2" lip on all 4 wheels to fit the Acura TL. Im going to look around some more to make sure this is the wheels I want. The pricing is similiar at $1200/rim and $75 extra a wheel to have the silver finish which is strange as the reseller quoted.

by the way, if you guys want to read about Iforged, here is a thread about them. I thought it was just the person yelling...but others on that thread confirm Iforge's problems.

With an auto, it shouldn't be hard to find wheels that fit. A 2" lip is about as big as you can get to fit the front, regardless of wheel. You can get a deeper lip in the rear as the brakes are smaller, but 2" is as deep as you can go and be uniform. Kinesis makes some good wheels, too.

Thanks chill. Im really leaning towards the Kinesis wheels. A 2" lip should be enough. Im trying to find some pictures to give me a visual of how this looks. Do you think I should go with a 2" lip in front and 3 in back? Or just go the same all the way around?

That's personal preference...personally, I wouldn't do it...I like mine to be the same (unless I had a RWD)...what you do is your call.
For pics of wheels with 2" lips, check out pics of my car, MissM's, and cTLgo's (rear only). The Devotions have 2" lips. Donte99TL (sp?) has a set of Axis Mod 7's with the Maxxis lip...they're 1.5/3.0 f/r, I believe...overall width is X8...it gives the appearance of staggered wheels without true staggering...to rotate his tires, he has to physically swap the tires as he can't put his rear wheels on the front. With custom wheels, this effect can be achieved with a lower offset on the rear wheels.
The other option would be to actually stagger your wheels. No point on a FWD car other than looks; however, it will also allow for a larger lip in the rear.
