Type S RSB on Base TL Questions

When adding the Type-S RSB to a 05 Base model, is there anything besides the RSB and bushings needed? Also if installing coils, will this need to come off again to install? Just trying to see if I should wait until I get my suspension on, or can I add it when I purchase?

you can add it on when you purchase it. it doesnt need to come off for a coilover install, but if inexperienced, you might disconnect it from endlinks.

the type-s rsb will be able to re-use base mounts/bushing.

Ive done some MINOR reading, seems that several people have done it with no issues, so thats why I'm going to do so.

my 04 has the same diameter front as your car and the rear is a 22MM comptech bar. The addition was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. Don't waste your time with the TL-S bar if you are doing the upgrade. People have ripped the rear subframe welds with the 24MM setting on the progress bar.

Use some white lithium grease on the bushings and you'll be fine!

When installing the suspension the bar does not need to come off, only the endlinks and you need an allen key wrench and a cresent/box wrench! Use tons of PB Blaster as they are a BITCH to remove if they have never been touched.

It's almost too inexpensive of an upgrade with an added benefit not to do the TL-S RSB from what I am reading. I will look further into what you have said but this is first I have heard of that regarding the welds.

Great timing, interested in this mod too. Don't want to go Progress RSB since I don't feel like changing the FSB on my AT TL (painful blah!) but would enjoy correcting the body roll and understeer a bit.

What's the part # for the TL-S RSB?

Thanks a lot! Will need to check prices, Canada has some messed up jacked up pricing on everything.

Looked into the holder and part # seems to be 52308-S3M-A00. FYI.

So if anyone is curious, local stealership here:

Bar: 52300-SEP-A11
$76.94

Holder: 52308-S3M-A00 (X2)
$7.56 ea.

Bushings: 52306-SEP-A11 (X2)
$5.37 ea.

Checked second stealership in the region (30 minutes drive)

Bar: 52300-SEP-A11
$73.59

Holder: 52308-S3M-A00 (X2)
$7.23 ea.

Bushings: 52306-SEP-A11 (X2)
$5.14 ea.

Just twice the price for the bar and like +5 times for the holder and bushings...

No deal to be had in Canada!

Whew, definitely not so bad then for once. Not sure where people got these for $30ish dollars back in the day though. Still a $100 upgrade even for Canadians (taxes not included).

Yea I dont know about this $30 bar back in the day. Im inclined to this because I dont have to wait for my coils to put this in, so I can do it right away!!

The feedback on the Progress seems fantastic, but for me, the driving, and the final goal.... The upgrade from the Type-S RSB will suffice.... Plus I can keep adding to my build thread! lol

You can probably find a used comptech or progress bar for under $200. If you are buying a TL-S bar, just look in the black market for $20-30. For the money and labor involved, why not do it right the first time!

Also I the front bar is a PITA to change, you'll be happy with just the rear.

I'm not going to do the front, just the rear RSB.

Get Polyurethane bushings.
The 24mm Progress RSB Rocks
Front not needed. Maybe replace the
Front bushings.
