Type S Brembo brake warranty...

Hi there is there anyone here who would happen to know if Brembo really carries a 25000 mile waranty on their brake pads, I have 19k on my front pads and my dealership would not replace my pads, they say its a wear and tear item and warranty will not cover. I even mentioned the groaning noise they make when i take off from a stop, they did clean my brakes for me, but the groaning noise is still there. I did tell them if it continues i will bring the car back and hopefully they will replace the pads and resurface rotors, pad life looks like abou 25% remaining. Any suggestion on how to approach my dealership and try to get them to replace these pads for me thanks guys...

pad life looks!!!.... what is the measurement of pad thickness remaining?
If the pads were down to the end of the center slot- they are toast,
minimum thickness is 2 mm, and if they get that thin you are going to buy rotors as well.

http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx
1-800-382-2238x5 need you VIN for both of those
register your car with acura and check the sections there on brake noises and symptoms.
call them too, register as owner and ask about brake noise problems- start a complaint file- A phone answering person (not an acura tech or car person) will take a message- read to you from a book that says NO!, and have a real manager from acura call you back within 24 hours- normally.

Certain noises are normal- especially on cold brakes. Others are warning of pad depth.
20k miles on brakes is about average- its a heavy car on not much for stock brake rotors and pads.
If you drive in commute traffic-stop and go- or drive it like a race car, it eats brakes and tires ...
just wait till the clutch goes--the brakes will seem cheap

what does a search on azine for Brembo warranty come up with?
I have heard a few versions
- try the same thing on the internet- search and on Brembos website
It may be againts defects not normal wear

The dealer is going to tell you a price that will shock you.
This brake job- while more complex than a standard TL, can be done by good DIYr- having one special tool makes it easy
Or can be done at a private shop with far better parts for the same or less cost

Of course they wont warranty the pads. If you are smoking pads out in 20k then you are braking to aggressively. I see those pads last 35 to 45k all day long. You have every right to drive your car in any manner you please but if its a wearable item and you wear them out prematurely then pay up. If you came in with squeeky brakes at 30k with 30% percent pad life left and your status was in good standing with the dealer, left then I can assure you any reputable dealer would be more than happy to help.

they say pads are at 4mm but i know if i keep mentioning the fact that the groaning noises, are still there after theyve cleaned the brakes that hopefully since car is still under warranty, theyll replace pads, it happens every time i let off my brakes slowly, annoying sounds, any other Type S owners have the same problem? I traded my 08 TL for an 07 TL S w 17k on it already, so previous owner had a heavy foot on them brakes prob.. but we'll see I bought a couple cars from that dealership A 200O GsR, 08 TL and my parents own a 08 MDX from there so hopefully theyll overlook things and be kind huh?

Don't release them slowly. Seriously.

Either put the brakes on or let them off. Don't let them off halfway; if I do that, I can make the brakes groan, at will, on every car I own.

yep - I have aftermarket brakes and can make groaning noises while slowly backing out the driveway.
Cleaned the brakes off..... hahahaa- I used to do a quick de-glaze brakes run and say that to the customer~~ oh yeah I cleaned them off..... personally

Have a look inside at the brakes and how they work-
4mm you should be thinking about brakes soon, their ability to operate goes down with pad depth
How are the rotors- do they look grooved or oddly colored blue and black streaks?

the rotors are in pretty good shape no grooves or discoloration, but I sure hope they will replace the pads, but if not ill order some and have a friend help install.. I heard something about Hawk pads is that right, reasonably priced and good quaility?

Another reason to own the Auto. 50K miles and only about 50% through the pads (according to the dealer)... Of course I am one of the gusy looking for an aftermarket set (if I can find them for a reasonable price).

i have 22k miles and about 40% remaining. but acura once replaced the pads about 15k miles ago because of excessive noise.

now the brakes are making some noises again and i rarely brake hard. gonna go ask the dealer again and see if they'll do another warranty work.

think acura have some problems with the brake system or ceramic pads that they use. i had same problem with the TSX and they did replaced the pads and resurface the rotors twice. they even had tsb for brakes making excessive noise and replaced the pads with newly issued version. first replacement was done around 10k and another one after 20k

[QUOTE=minkl81...and i rarely brake hard....[/QUOTE]

Well, there is your problem. With Brembo's you HAVE to "periodically" break hard (once every two or three weeks should be fine) in order to get the "glazing off of them. They are DESIGNED to be pushed harder and if you don't you get lots of noise. Simply go do a hard run or two and the noise will go away. I wonder why people think this is a warranty issue?

I know this is an old thread but I'll ask anyway. I have a 08 tl-S with 7600 miles on it. I got it brand new and just brought my car in this past Saturday for my B1 service and during the course of it (and other issues) I was told my brakes are very low and should be replaced. He showed me them and pointed out what looked like a metal tab showing stating that is the low pad indicator or something. Of course he said they are low and being they are brakes and safety issues I said go ahead and change them and smooth the rotors but now that I am reading online with so many people having issues with premature brake replacement at such a low mileage I am wondering if there is a defect or something? I mean I only have 7600 miles, all local driving no road trips, no hard braking or driving the car hard or aggressively. And I don't ride the brakes to make them squeal or anything. Am I just SOL or is there a possible problem that I paid for unnecessarily?

That's really premature wear. But, the OEM pads wear very quickly. I wish you would've seen the pads before replacement. The OEM replacement interval is 2mm.

The service request writer showed me the car, with the wheel on and pointed to a metal tab near the brake caliper and rear or bottom of the brake pads stating that tab shows the brake pads are low and need to be replaced. I just checked my car now and I still see the same tab. I am feeling more and more uneasy like I got screwed.
