TPMS System Error
All,
I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice on TPMS. I just bought an '06 TL with 26k miles on it. It's in great shape and hasn't been in an accident from what i can tell.
When I turn on the car and put the screen on TPMS the two right tires read 58psi but are at 32 when checked with a gauge. After driving for 10 mins. or so, the "TPMS System Error" comes up and all the tire pressures go blank. I've tried pulling the fuse and putting it back in, which didn't change anything.
The two right tires had been curbed at some point but the wheels are not bent. Do you think the tires may have been taken off the car and put in different spots to cause this?
Should I just take it into Acura and let them look at it? Is there anything else I can do before taking it in?
Thanks for your help,
Alan

Mine did that once... and hasn't done it since.
The system is a complex set of sensors in the fender wells (which reads the RFID signals from the wheel sensors), all connected to a central processing unit, which is tied to the cars ECU (which provides the output display).
If you had a bad wheel sensor, you'd NOT get the "system error" but rather a "check pressure" alert.
Needless to say, you've done all the troubleshooting you can do at this point. It's a 2006, under warranty... get ye to the dealer.
