tpms sensors

It might sound stupid but I can't find the answer anywhere. I'm about to get new tires and I'm wandering if I have to replace the tpms sensors when I get new tires put on. Someone told me if the tire store is careful they can be used again and the battery will last about 7 years. Any input would be appreciated.

That's correct, just switch over the sensors providing the new rims are compatible with the Acura sensors.

Yes they can be reused. Any competent tire shop should know what to do with them. They're pretty commonplace nowadays.

tire dealers keep damaging sensors

What are the chances that two different tire dealerships damaged my TPMS sensors. First Goodyear then a Southern Tires dealership. Each time I had new tires installed, I go through the same ordeal. The TPMS system malfunctions, I end up bringing it to Acura, they charge $108 activation fee and $100 for a new sensor. Each time Acura claims the tire dealership damaged the sensors when removing the old tire from the rim. And each time I ask the tire dealership to reimburse me, they deny having damaged the sensor. I know I didn't damage the sensor. They refuse responsibility for damaging the sensors, telling me in effect, PROVE IT that the tire dealer damaged the sensor. I'm tired of this shit. It's so frustrating.

Next time have them sign a document that the TPMS was functioning properly at the time the car was moved into the shop. If it's malfuctioning afterwards, guess who's to blame!
