TPMS sensor question
TPMS sensor question
Love being able to read the PSI on all four corners from the cabin. Got a used set of 2006 TL wheels with like new tires for cheap. There are TPMS sensors in there and I was wondering if a shop will have any issues mating them to my car so I can read the pressure in the cabin and not have a TPMS light on? Or will I need new sensors? . Car is an 08 TL-S.

Although, 06 wheels on an 08 TLS is um, stylin'??
Thank you for the response. Hahaha they are going to be my winter wheels. I love the Type S wheels! This will give me a chance to get the Type S wheels reconditioned and look new again. Apparently one is slightly bent and cannot be balanced 😔 So the Type S wheels will be taken to a wheel shop and straightened out and all the rash fixed. I looked in the aftermarket options but there's really nothing out there that would be a suitable replacement. I was thinking of the Konig Ampliform But I didn't really want to spend $280 a wheel. Plus I'll have to get a new tires because those are 18s.

As stated you shouldn't have any issues with the 2nd set of TPMS sensors. You may need to drive with the new sensors for a few miles before they synch up but you should be fine. I have two sets of rims/tires/TPMS sensors (snow tires and summer tires) and switch them seasonally with no issue other than driving a bit for them to synch up.

They SHOULD. When I change my tires, I do the front axle first and drive around the block and watch them sync with the MID. Then the rears and repeat. Just give 'em a few miles before worrying about any tire shop programming.

Well light did eventually come on 😔. Looks like the driver's front is bad. Since it says it reads like 55 PSI all the other ones seem to be accurate. After driving for a bit it pops up telling me to check my sensors and then it shows no readings. Then there will be random days where it doesn't pop up at all It's weird
