TPMS reads 58 psi????

I have an 07 TL-S and I just had my winter tires put on with brand new Dorman TPMS. All four of my tires read 58 psi and then after I drove it for a few, the rear tires read the correct pressure, with one of them going back to 58 when I restart the car. I had them calibrated by a mechanic and he doesn't know why they are doing that either. We both manually checked them and the pressure is in the low 30s in all the tires. My summer wheels did not have this problem with the TPMS that are in them. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just want to know what to do from here.

The one reading 58 must be a bad tpms. Are you also getting that lil orange symbol on your dash?

TPMS on start up ALWAYS reads 58.

Then, from right front --> right rear --> left rear --> left front they should register and display the correct pressure. This should take about 5 seconds or so after start up.

If any one sensor is not going to the correct pressure, that TPMS unit is somehow faulty; maybe "broke" (but sending signal) or installed incorrectly or something on those lines.

A faulty unit may also disply "---", but I think that is a unit that is NOT sending a signal.

That really sucks if they are broke because they are brand new. I do not have the orange light on in my car indicating that they are not working. I find it hard to believe thought that all the TPMS are broken especially since the back two were working on and off. I hope they are just installed incorrectly. I dont know how much the dealer will charge to reprogram them and I would like not to find out. Thanks for the help.

I don't think any "programming" or "re-programming" is required. You buy 'em, you install 'em and they work. The in car receiving/processing unit has to recognize them, but that should only take a short time after install.

You don't get a light in the dash because they ARE "working" as far as the car knows; they are sending a signal and the message is "58".

Where did you get your TPMS sensors? Are they OE Honda sensors?

I'm not sure, but I thought I remembered reading that there are two different kinds of sensor. They work pretty much the same way, but on different frequencies. Maybe you got the wrong type.

What year is your car? (nevermind; 2006).

Does it already have TPMS?

If not, you'd need to add the receiving unit, but even then, no, you can't make it display pressure in your MID.

If you buy the correct sending units and they are installed correctly, it is plug and play.

If you buy the wrong units or they're broken or they're installed wrong ....

If you just swap out wheels with different sensors it will read 58 for that day and so on then after that it should read what each tires readings. But if its still 58 then you may have faulty sensors as mentioned above!!
