tpms is crazy

You should set the recommended tire pressures in the morning when it's cold, and then they will warm up during the day, which is the way it is supposed to be.

Don't go above recommended. As you drive the friction is gonna cause the air to expand, so you don't wanna go too high to start..

LOL...same thing in Chicago! It got cold so my TPMS pressures dropped a few degrees...so I'm at the dealership getting the heat shield fixed..and this little old lady pulls in in a brand new TL...complaining that the tires are bad on her new car cause the low pressure light is going off! LOL...I showed her how the pressure thing works..she had no clue..then she tells me...well...I don't know how to put air in the tires so there..it's a new car this shouldn't be happening! I explain air pressure and temperature to her and all..and that the nice mechanics will probably be happy to put some air in her tires for her! LOL

Common problem with winter starting. As others have said, you need to add air to compensate for the colder temps.
If the pressure drops below 27 psi, the MID warning will be triggered. It requires 29 psi to reset the warning message.
Just keep periodically adding air until your MORNING psi is able to stay at 27 psi or higher.
