TL vs TLs suspension difference?
TL vs TLs suspension difference?
i know stock the TLs has a sport tuned suspension. But why is it that there are different springs made for each model? There are some companies that make springs for both, but in some cases they are made just for the TL or just the TLs. What are the differences (if any)? THanks.

most likely to accomodate for the weight differences between the base TL and the type-s as well as weight distribution based on the transmission. at least this is the reasoning for having mulitple Aspec susp kits for the different trannies and models.
^^yes, from what I have read, main reason is weight difference. Auto base version is a couple hundred pounds over TLs manual version. I imagine they also take into account that someone with a TLs may be driving their car harder, and compensate for some of that with spring rate
The difference in weight is minimal so the spring rates are less to soften the ride in the base TL:
A/T TL-3636#
A/T TLS-3674#
M/T TLS-3559#
A/T TLS with HP tires-3680#
M/T TLS with HP tires-3563#
As you can see there is very little difference in weight so the spring rates are stiffer on the TLS to complement the heavier sway bar and for more precise handling. Some aftermarket manufacturers will use a generic spring that will cover all models, similar to shocks and struts, so you'll need to know the spring rates, before a purchase, as the percentage increase over stock should be the same for front and rear to keep the car front/rear suspension as is and reduce the chances for oversteer or understeer conditions.
