TL TYPE S Brake Upgrade - Slotted, Cross Drilled or Both + Break Pads

2007/2008 Acura TL TYPE S Brake Upgrade

Rotors
What are the differences between Slotted, Cross Drilled or Both, and what are the benefits of choosing one or the other?

Pads
Which are the best pads to go with each?

IMHO, stay with the slotted setup. Slotted rotors will last longer, and are less harsh on your pads. Drilled rotors also are more apt to crack, and they cost more $.

I typically recommend slotted only rotors since the slots will help sweep the face of the rotor of any debris and gas/heat buildup while cutting into the pads to prevent it from glazing over. The drilled holes add to the aesthetic appearance if you have the slots. Yes, holes are more prone to cracking than slots but if the company does it properly then you won't have an issue.

Pad material is important. Honda typically uses ceramic pads so putting a semi-metallic pad on will usually cause some squeeling. Semi-metallic pads typically have great bite but tend to emit more dust and squeel a little. So you would want to figure out what is important to you: bite, dust, noise, etc.

considering sending them back and getting the drilled rotors just because they look so much better too me.... but on the other hand the slotted perform better.

As long as the holes are cast into the rotor when it’s made, they’re fine. Most companies drill them after the fact (due to cost) thus resulting in the cracking. Porsche has some of the best rotors out there for longevity and construction. I think they are made by Brembo.

Most of your higher end rotors will only be slotted. Look at most race cars.

Talking Look what my girlfriend got me for Christmas Brembo Part# 45836

My girl surprised the shit out of me when she pulled this box out from under the tree.
I'm happy to say i'm the first with the Brembo slotted rotors for my 2007 TL-S 6speed M/T
Here are some pics.... enjoy
What do you guys think....
Stay slotted or go drilled?

Thanks to my boy StiLL HeRe 153, we double checked and checked again to make sure these fit.

Every time i look at them i like the slotted look more and more. I was just thinking the drilled would be more eye catching. But forget that idea!!!!
......I'm gonna add then too the collection of parts i have for the car.

Don't believe myths about rotors warping and cracking people.

It's all a big marketing scam isn't it? Haha.

Well, all I know is, what I know. And I wish Racingbrake made UP rotors for my car.
