TL-S OEM rims, Love em, Hate em, Don't care?
OK, I'm in a predicament. My stock tires are shot and I need to make a decision as to whether get snows on stock and get new wheels and summers. I can't decide whether I want to spends on the $$$ on all that, rather than get Conti DWS on the stock OEM wheels.
Basically this revolves around whether I should stick with the OEM rims long term or replace them with something better looking.
Thanks for your thoughts!

The OE wheels have definelty grown on me. I don't love them, but I do like them.
TL-S should've come with 18" wheels though. imho.

Waffles belong on a plate:
lol jk. I'm not really a fan of them, or do I care about them. So I guess I'm neutral.. If they came stock with the car then so be it. I personally wouldn't spend money to purchase them when I can get better looking aftermarket rims.

When I first bought my ASM Type-S, I didnt like the wheels at all, I prefered my 2006 OEM TL wheels MUCH more. After I lowered my car 1.5" all around and tinted the windows the car looked MUCH BETTER. Enough to LIKE THEM

I wish they came with 18's...
I also wish somebody from the aftermarket world would realize this, and reproduce them in 18's. They'd make a killing.

There is an aftermarket wheels that looks very similar to stock 04-06 wheels star design, and they come in 18s. Google "fifteen52"

I will never, EVER again add more weight to a car that isn't sitting on the springs. That being said it is very unlikely I will ever put a larger wheel on my car, even the ultra rare and always in demand Gunmetal 8.5s. If the wheel/tire combo isn't lighter than stock, count me out.
Some people blow my mind... dropping the car, changing to 19s or 20s... the larger wheel will negate some of their drop and on top of that the added unsprung weight will make the car drive like a wagon full of bricks... sure it looks badass but I think it's more harm than good in every other aspect.
On a another note I've discovered the waffle wheels still look fairly clean even when they are filthy!

In my opinion, the type s wheels are the best looking OEM wheel made for the TL. From a performance perspective, it is also the best choice.
04-06 = 24.5 lbs
type s = 22.5 lbs
a-spec = 27 lbs
I saw another thread where people were putting 19 inch SUV (RDX) wheels on their TL's which weigh 29.2 lbs
Lighter wheels will give you better acceleration, braking, mpg, and your suspension will perform better. I don't understand why anyone would put heavier than stock wheels on their car which will hurt performance.
