Post Tirerack.com - AT ITALIA S5 -17"

These rims look similar to the Type S stock wheels. I like that thick 5 spoke look.

AT ITALIA S5-17 - first row of choices on the wheel locator for a 1999 TL. I'm sure you have seen them already?

Does anyone have this rim, what are your comments even if you don't have it? Good brand? I wish I could post a pic of it, but don't know how at this moment.

Thanks!

Edub,

Thanks for the help on the pic, Accord V6 Rims? Well not that bad :-)

I think they will look very nice on our TLs, but not sure if this is the way to go for a first timer upgrading his rims.

Do you have any suggestions?

Someone here does have them. I cannot remember who, but I know I have seen it in their sig. Maybe SinnedTL? I dunno, but I do know that someone does. I like them.

TLwiz,

Thanks for the heads up. Tirerack seems like a reputable place to buy and I'm not familiar with this brand, but I am sure it's decent. They recommend that putting on 215 tires on this rim. Just have to figure out how these really look in a real photo. I'll try to find that other member. Thanks again.

yeah ...um. the place where i go to buys wheels from tirerack.com so i can basically get all the wheels there. The guy at the shop said that all the wheels that they say can fit on our car were tested and the offsets were taken to account.

So about those wheels....i'm also looking for wheels like that too...the thick spoke style..really nice..

Hey guys these rims are growing on me, 17". I'm a newbie to rims, so I just have to figure out 2 things, installing them by myself or an authorized tirerack dealer and the 2nd obstacle is my wife, I have to convince her that these are a necessity and may depend on life and death.

OK, looks like my chances are slim and it maybe a while, but I too like these thick spoke rims.

How smart/quick is your wife when it comes to cars? What I mean is, could you tell her you bent a rims from a curb or pothole, and now you need a new one? Or, do what I am doing: New rims'tires for good weather months, stock for winter. Tell her the money you spend on them now, would be spent on tire replacement anyway, but now the sets will last twice as long.
Last suggestion, just do it and buy her something nice so she'll shut up. That one works EVERY TIME!!!

TLWIZ,

That scheme is all good. And I got a good laugh out of it. Taking notes from you, since you have gone through this before and are the expert!

Did you get your rims yet and are you planning on just buying them from Tirerack.com and installing them yourself or having one of their dealer do it for you?

I originally wanted the CL Type S rims, but will be harder to get and their is a post out there that they either fit or don't fit my 99TL.

The rim search continues!

I actaully have not ordered my rims yet. I am getting them from Tim (Snook), but am waiting for my new house to be finished. My wife has said to buy nothing until we pay off the credit cards and close our loan. So, in the interest of staying alive, I can wait until June for rims. I will just tell her I won some money at Foxwoods (been there, done that). Besides, buy her something flashy and she's all good.

BMW Exclusive. Wrong bolt pattern. I think they only come in 5x120 or something like that. Also, the offset will be WAY off. They do like sweet on a Bimmer tho.

PhiTL,

That's exactly what I thought too when I saw them. I like it a lot. The S8 looks sweet with that style.

Hey guys, is this AT ITALIA a good brand, normally lighter than stock tires? That is what I am trying to find out.

It looks good, but is it a good deal? Just trying to get your opinions!

Thanks for all your help.

Zodiak,

Thanks for the heads up and the info from Tirerack. I'm telling you these are a great looking pair of rims. I keep seeing them on the tirerack's site plugged into the interactive rim section. They look pretty good! Are you planning on just jacking up your car and installing them yourself? Which tires, Dunlop SP5000?

i called tirerack today about this and another rim, and they weight in at 21lbs, which is about 5.5 to 6lbs lighter than stock rims... i'm also wondering about their quality
