Tire Questions
Ok need a little advice here....
I'm looking to get a new set of Tires for my AM 05/AT. I searched on Tire Rack and have narrowed it down to 2 options:
(what I want) Pirelli PZero Nero's 139 per tire, great deal considering most of the tire shops around me want over $200 per tire
or
(what my wallet wants) Kumho Ecsta ASX $85 per tire
The Pirelli is rated a slightly better according to comparison between the Pirelli, Kumho, Goodyear and one other that I can't recall.
So what's everyone's opinion? I want something good in wet conditions, we get some snow around here, usually one major snowstorm a year. I know both these tires will be huge improvements over the POS el42's.
I'm just not sure that I can justify spending $54 more per tire for the Pirellis
Also, I'd like to get a tire that provides a little more protection for my rims, what would be the proper size to get?
Thanks!

I just got a pair of Nero's M&S from Tire Rack for my Aspec rims. After talking to two local guys about them I believe I made a good choice, locally they wanted $228, Tirerack was $159. They been smelling up the house, won't have the rims until tomorrow. The tread is great.

Suzuka Master
lay em down and put a piece of glass across em and you have a new cocktail table!

^^ Maybe 20 years ago. Not sure if it would look better than a utility cable wooden table though. Which I did have.

I swapped my EL42's out with the ASX's. I was actually leaning towards the Pirelli's, but after riding in my brother's car (03 TL-S, stiff suspension, 18/235/40), I was sold.
These aren't the best - I lose traction in 1st and 2nd @ WOT - but you won't regret it.

what about traction in wet weather and snow? that's my biggest issue with the el42's, my abs has gotten a good workout in the first year, and hydroplaning is a real B!tch

They're good... I've been scared shitless after hydroplaning on the freeway with the EL42's, but with the ASX's, I feel safe. They channel the water well and they're fine in snow, too.

Sure wouldn't want to take the EL42s out in the snow...they were bad enough just in rain...
