Tire Pressure

Does anyone know the correct tire pressure? The manual say 32psi for automatics. I was wondering what you all keep your tires at? The reason I ask is I check mine after 3 months and they were @ 25??????? seems odd to me, ut maybe that's how it comes from the dealer.

Any thoughts? 25 from the dealer.

Honestly I can't tell you - but I remember in my Infiniti it has a label on the door area (when you open the door) which had the correct pressure...

BTW wrong forum should be under tires... also, try a search for tire pressure

mod Ron A note: Moved to tires, thanks

The pressures you quote seem pretty low to me. I use 37F and 33R. Those seem to be a good balance between ride and handling. Do a little experimenting; see what suits you.

It is natural for your tire pressure to drop as the weather gets colder. In general, for every 10 degrees you'll lose about 1 pound.

But 2 points are important. First, make sure your gauge is accurate. It's amazing how bad some gauges are. Second, only check your pressure when the tires are cold.

Thanks vikrampetal. Points to you for the link. The other forums seem to lag a little with the responses, not as many hits.

There is a sticker in the driver's door jamb that gives the recommended tire pressure.

I keep mine at 35psi, regardless of what tire I have on at the time. Just personal preference. With the 5AT, I wouldn't go much above 35, but you can play with it and see what pressure works best for your kind of driving and preferences.

Actually, most manufacturers overinflate the tires because of car storage and flatspotting issues.

If you checked your tires and found them that low, I'd keep an eye on them. You may have a bad valve stem or some other issue. I can go a month or two with hardly any PSI drop (equivalent temps).

They'll natually lose pressure with time and temperature, but that seems to be a bit more drop than normal (especially for CA).

I've got Michelan PS-2 tires on my '04TL, and I keep the pressure at 35F, 33R. That seems to be a good balance between ride and handleing. I use a good digital gauge and noticed the drop in pressure when the weather got cooler, and add dry nitrogen to keep the pressure up as the weather gets colder. I've always used dry nitrogen in my tires, it's the best thing to use if you have access to the stuff. I fill up my small tank at the airport and keep it in my garage to use as needed.

Good advice. That's what's in race car tires. For those who may ask why, it's because nitrogen will not expand as much when the tire gets hotter from driving. It will maintain the pressure you put into the tire better when cold. At least that is my understanding.

I'm actually surprised that the TL didn't come with a TPMS.

An overlooked detail of the responsibility that comes with car ownership: You pay no attention to tire pressure for 3 months- you lose tire pressure- certainly after 3 months- tires overheat- tires have blow outs- who is sorry now??

Can anyone recommend a good accurate tire pressure gauge? Most that I've found are made in China. Anyone think the chinese tire pressure gauges are reliable?
