Tire pressure for 19" Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

I just got a set of 245/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. I was using the stock 17" Michelin Pilot MXM4 at 32 PSI as recommended by Acura. With the Pilot Sport PS2 the tire shop told me the pressure needs to be at 45 PSI. Is that correct? Could someone with experience with this please comment?

Wow 45psi seems kinda high to me. I would think 32-35psi would be perfect. Unless you need higher psi for lower profile tires.

Say post some pics of your ride on 19's!!

just look along the sidewall of the tire, it should say the max psi. although i wouldn't pump it full of air to max pressure. just judge it from there

I would not rely on what its says on the sidewall imo. I am pretty sure the stock tl tires say 50 pounds max pressure as most tires do. That is max pressure without having a blow out and no where close to driveable conditions. I have 245/35 and they are not michelins but the pressure should be the same. I would run your tires at anywhere from 42 psi to 38 psi. Thats what I run mine at and is what i was told by the person that mounted and balanced them.

the marking on the tire is the max the TIRE can handle.....your supposed to run whatever it says on your door (36 front 34 rear i think)

The guy at the tire shop said that since the maximum load of the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 is less than the stock Michelin Pilot MXM4 that it would need a higher pressure to hold up the same amount of weight. He calculated that it needs 45 PSI. I looked up the specification of these two tires and found that the max load of the 245/35/19 Pilot Sport PS2 is 1433lbs @ 50PSI while the max load of the 235/45/17 Pilot MXM4 is 1433lbs @ 44PSI.

If the remcommended tire pressure is 32 PSI for the stock tires, does anyone know how to calculate the tire pressure for the 245/35/19 Pilot Sport PS2 tires with the above specs?

your tire pressure should be anywhere from 38 psi to 42 psi for 245/35 sized tires.
