They fit! 16" rims and snow tires on an Auto '04 TL

225/55R16 on the 16" Konig Incident rims leaves you about a half inch of play around the brakes and calipers...

(not much- but enough for cold weather)

oh wait, those are the neighbors 15's on HIS 2nd Gen TL... oops!

Here are the real deal-

I don't think they're that bad, wife doesn't like the look of them at all...

Any questions or anything?

Nice, don't look so bad.

Winter's almost over, though haha.

Wait, Spring starts today doesn't it? LOL

MN Average temp (yearly) = 45 degrees F.
Winters can be bitterly cold, snowfall is common in the winter and heavy snowfalls usually occur during the spring, and autumn.

Always a good time to have snow tires in Minnesnowta!

There are usually only 3-4 months of actual "Summer!"- so summer tires will be on around June, and go through til September... then it's below 45 for 7 more months!

I'm surprised not many others run snow tires in our state. They SHOULD!

Oh, thanks- I thought that also after I wrote it- oh well...
We're going up towards Canada, and Lake Superior this week, and we're still getting snow...
Her other tires were ready to explode.

BTW- NOW! is the time to buy snowtires...
Her snow set-up (Konig Rims and Tires, mounted balanced, shipped from DiscountTiresDIRECT.com to my door.) was only about $650!

I bought my snow tires (Blizzak LM-60's mounted on stockies) in November LOL

Gonna take em off mid April =)

If you still get snow, by all means have your snow tires =P

This season was my first snow season with the TL, I picked up General Altimax Arctics... best snow tires I have owned to date. I've had Blizzaks, etc... but these things ride pretty good for snows and are wearing exceptionally well for how I drive. Deep snow traction was insane with loads of stability. I don't know how I made it through last winter in my CL with regular all seasons. Too bad I can't fit some 16's on my TL during winter, 6spd. These tires in 17's were not too bad though, I think it was about 450 shipped for the set.

Good point, and nice deal Tehvine. All season's are not worth it in our climate. The difference is like night and day.
The other GREAT Winter Tires I had were the Hankook I-pikes- still have a set on my '93 teg.

Wifeypoo was happy going slow and slipping around- I drove the TL in the snow and started looking for new tires last year, she said no (with Christma$ coming up$$$) and thought we could make it through this summer with the Fuzions...

When I showed her the ply's separation she agreed we needed something before the trip!

first of all :noob: that picture of your neighbor's TL, is actually a 1st gen TL, not a 2nd gen one

then second iirc the 3g TL's automatic brakes are actually the same rotor iirc, along with the pads also and such as on the 2g TL which come stock with 16's on the base model (nothing special for the type-s model ), so yes they should fit on

Thumbs up

Great catch freshman2000!

But if you read all the posts, you would see that we covered the 1st gen/2nd gen thing right away...

Too bad I can't edit my first post- must be a NooB thing...

And yes, I asked around, searched, and read pages of B.S. finding nothing on the 16" TL rims for snow tires on the '04.

So after a few weeks of searching, and figuring it all out... this post may help others in the future! ♥ Peace!

I wish!

I'm Glad we bought them- Just got slammed by another 7" of ice and snow tonight! I love them, they cut through it like butter!!! I was doing the speed limit with no problems. I took off faster and faster at each stop light, and about the 5th or 6th light, they finally kicked on the VSA light.

Say, I need to paint those rusty hubs and calipers- And it must be able to hold up against road salt- and heat...
maybe a rust-o-leum type of product... any suggestions?

215/55/16's would give you the most accurate speedometer reading. The 225/55/16's make your speedometer read 1.6% too slow. When your speedometer says you're going 60mph, you're actually going 61mph.

I'm not knocking your wheels, as I agree with going with a 16" for winters.

Arrow Don't go 215's!

The problem was the 215's are even skinnier! 20cm per side= 40cm skinnier! on both front and rear! 80cm loss of traction and stability. No thanks, i'll go 1mph slower (yeah right!) 225's you only lose half the tread- only 10cm per side. on dry roads, that's a big difference! They plow roads fast here, dry roads! We also sand/salt here so we have even less traction at times. But with these we get best of both worlds, wide snow tires!
Traction always varies! She knows this and drives like a granny most of the time. I warned Wifeypoo about the speedometer difference, but again- she rarely does the speed limit... 16 years of "PULL OVER, I'm driving!" and now she just gets in the passenger seat when we go somewhere together.
We usually arrive 10 minutes sooner!

I ran 16" rsx rims with general altimax and yah they were unstoppable. But next winter I have a set of oem 07-08 rims with blizzaks.
