Tein Street Advanced Coilover review

Tein Street Advanced Coilover review
So I purchased these coilovers and finally got around installing them today. This is my third suspension I have installed on a TL,so I have experienced the good and the ok.
These coilovers are the best suspension I have ever had,the way my car handles overall impressed me. Im very happy that I'm at the drop I would like and my car drives really smooth.
I can confirm that the tein street advanced would stomp f&f coilovers. The built quality is way better. For example, the wrenches are built better and are way more easy to adjust, thicker rubber dust boots. It is just more solid Coilover.
Of coarse downside is it does not come with top hats, but you can use ure old ones or buy new ones. I bought new ones because I'm anal like that ,only spent a little over 100 bucks, very worth it.
The dampening adjustment was a breeze,I set it once drove it around the block and was in love...lol......I set it at 10 clicks from stick in the rear and 11 from stiff in the front. Handling is great while still maintaining a smooth ride.

Ive had the function&form coilovers version 2 type 1(least favorite at any height, ride was horribly stiff.......I've had tokico/h&r sport (nice setup but not as low as I wanted)......I've taken a ride in d2 coilovers with dampening(felt just like f&f coilovers) and was not impressed.
I think

Out of the box is random.....but the manual tells you the height to set it at which is one inch collar gap.....I did 1inch collar gap in the rear and a little less Front.....yes I was able to adjusted with them on as when I set both at 1 inch ,I lowered the front a little more....I had access to a lift at a shop so it was a breeze and the wrenches it brings are made of good quality..it was a pain in the ass when I had the function&form

OP, I have a question for you: do you think it is worth the money to get Street Advance+EDFC rather than just a set of Street Basis?
I don't care about high or low or comfortable or not. I only want my car to drive like a true road-going WRC race car. Inaccurate has stressed a lot about the importance of getting adjustable damping, so the coilovers can be truly stiff. However, for Tein, at least, that means additional $600.

If you want a true stiff Coilover, why don't you try out the new xlr8 isc coilovers, you can get the race spring rates plus it has dampening adjustment. That company is very popular on performance cars like the Evo and STI.....in my opinion all basic coilovers are stiff,if you want best of both worlds why not try tein, you want more performance isc is a good choice because they offer custom spring rates.

car looks nice bro wish I would of new you when I was living in nyc a few months ago lol.I was actually debating on purchasing these coilovers over htspec2 but went with the spec 2 just because I didnt want to buy new or re use the old tophats.

Yes yes yes!!!!
I bought the TEIN Advance coilovers, Progress adjustable rear sway bar, and the ingalls camber kits from EXCELEREATE PERFORMANCE. That guy knows his stuff. Parts got here within 3 business days. This setup is INCREDIBLE!!! I had the car corner weighted and balanced for my body weight by Gran Turismo East. Since I retained the OEM front sway bar the rear was set to the softer setting. All the dampners were set to 3 clicks away from full firm. The front has one finger of gap and the rear has two fingers of gap in case I ever have a full car. The car is raked just like a ferrari I compared it today when one happened to pull up next to me.
Everything feels outstanding to the point that I want to take the car to Road Atlanta and do a track day in it. No more wheel hop either. You can feel the car start to spin a touch in third and then grab and launch forward. I only felt stuff like that in my WRX prior to this car. Definitley have the school girl giggle.

I also bought all new top hats at Acura when I installed Tein SS coilovers in the spring of 2009 on my 06 TL 6-speed.
I am buying a Type-S soon and want the parts list for top hats so I can just take the OEM Type-S coilovers out and install Tein"s without having to rent a spring compressor. Also easy to switch back if needed.
Are these Tein's you bougth the New Version of the Tein SS coilovers ?
Thankyou

Do you have do drill holes for them to fit like this?
#38
Yes these are the new version of tein....these are better than the ss, 200% plus dampening adjustment over the tein ss!......that means they can be adjusted twice as soft or hard as the ss.......
Type s TOPHATS part numbers are on post #30
I refuse to drill any hole on my bar....it's looks tacky....once you set it to your liking..you won't touch it again....if you are a person that goes to the track often and drives street also than you might want to consider EDFC,other than that dont waste your time or money
Mine are set 11 clicks from stiff in from and 10 clicks from stiff in the rear..start from there, you wil love it ...it's stiffer than oem type s!!! But smoother!...make sense?
That's why I say get the base bushings you won't be able to tell the difference.....

Check this out...I work on my car in my friends shop because it's just way easier when u have a lift..after I lowered it a little more ,I took him for a ride,we went to grab lunch...and he brought it up on how low my car is and still drives so smooth ..
And this guy is like an anti- Coilover person...he believes Coilovers just needs up the ride on a car like ours

Awesome EATS
I was just on Ebay and they still sell the Tein SS coilovers for over $1000.
Thanks for the Marcus Video.
I also bougth all the top hat parts back in 09 for my 06 TL manual.
I thnk this time I will order from Heeltoe (Marcus) and get all the top hats and parts from him also. Another $200. Easier then explaining to Acura Parts guy, and only $50 more from Marcus.
I will order a set in early July
Thanks again EATS
