Talking Tein S Tech/Kyb Struts

Well im going to install Tein S tech with kyb gr2 struts. I have replaced mine before with the type s. They were pretty much justa drop in. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or good info for doin these.

Im gonna reuse my tophats unless they are bad for whatever reason. I pretty well know what its gonna take to do it, just lookin for pointers to make any of it easier. Also wanna know if any body is runnin this setup and what are their thoughts on ride quality/feel. Thanks in advance!

LOL. I couldn't resist.

I can't help you with that combo. I've run the KYBs on other cars and they're ok, nothing bad to say except that they can be harsh.... but again, no TL specific experience. You'll probably get some feedback on the Tein S Tech but I doubt you will get much on the KYBs since not many people run them around here.

If I had it to do over again I would cut down the rubber bushings in the top hat or do the TL-S tophats. Now that the springs and shocks are stiffer, you can see the slight give the rubber bushings have in the top hat especially in that first 3/8" of suspension travel like when stopping lightly and the car rocks back.

The suspension im replacing is a tls set that i bought in the black market a good while back. They have some miles on them so im gonna replace them, my left rear is blown. So you think i will good for the most part since i will be using tls tophats?

Heck yes. The TL-S top hat is a great compliment for a stiffer spring and shock. Sounds like a good combo.

Good deal. I have done lots of little mods to the car, but never dropped it. This will be a new experience for me....lol. Thanks for the input, it always appreciated.

I'm not sure how much you're lowering it but be sure to chop the bumpstops in half. Cut the smaller diameter end off and leave the large diameter on the shock. These things sit very close to the bumpstops already and if you're not careful it will sit on the bumpstops all the time. I'm not trying to worry you, just be sure to cut the stop for better comfort.

K, will do. I had read where some of the guys were doin this. I think the drop per tein is 1.2 front/1.3 rear. I have already touched base with my tire guy and will get aligned right after install.

Also from searching the forums and the tire shop the drop is really mild so no camber kit needed. Im trying to cover all my bases on this as much as possible. Dont want any hiccups to arise if at all possible.
