Stern St-1 Hyper Silver

Hello - My first post after about 6 months of reading. I purchased an Acura TL Type S in January and was interested in changing the rims to the Stern ST-1 19". My question is: Will these rims clear the Brembo brakes? Thanks

On the TL picture thread a person has those wheels on his car, I will go look for it and get back to you.

I found 3 cars with those wheels. Go to Sticky:New wheel/tire specs thread with pics.

Page 3, post#69 has Stern ST 2 with 20x8.5" 6 speed no spacers.

Page 4, post#91 has Stern ST 1 with 19x8.5" +38mm offset, 6 speed no spacers.

Page 4, post#94 has Stern ST 1 with 19x8.5" +45mm offset, but automatic.

Sounds like they will fit. Go check them out, they look real nice.

I also saw those on eBay a couple months ago. I was wondering about the fit and quality also. I HOPE I HELPED! Jeff D.

Thanks for the guidance. Do you know if the calipers on the 07 are larger - the one on page 4 (post 91) looks a bit smaller then mine?

Also, does anyone know of a good place to purchase these wheels (w/ tires) in the Temecula / San Diego area?

Thanks for your help.

As far as size, I don't know. Do a search first, if you can't find anything put up a new thread about the size of 07 TL-S Brembo's and 04-06 TL manual Brembo's. I think they are the same, but not 100% sure. There are many people who know, believe me. Good luck. JD

Well, I found the Stern ST-1's at a great price locally. I brought my car in and they told me that they will order the 19 X 8.5 in the 45MM offset. I asked if they were sure that this would fit and they assured me that it would ... I guess I'll find out tomorrow when the wheels arrive and they install them. There were 2 offset options (38 and 45) and after searching this site for 2 days, I can't tell if the 45MM or the 38MM will fit ... One poster said that his Stern's @ 38MM offset justed cleared and that 45MM would never fit - but when I told the tire shop that, they said that if the 38MM just fit, the 45MM offset wheels will fit with no problem.

clttr2002; I can't send you a private message for some odd reason. If you want a great deal on wheels that will fit your 07 TL-S PERFECTLY, go to the black market sales.

My heart is set on these Stern's ... if it doesn't work out, I'll take a look.

Does the offset reasoning sound good to you? I've seen the sterns on at least 3 TL's here so I guess it's just a matter of getting the right offset to fit my TL-S

I'd highly recommend the 38MM offset. I have that exact wheel on my car (page 4 of the wheel pic page) and I am pretty sure there is not another 7MM to spare between the Brembos and the wheel. I remember when I was making this same decision that someone with MT bought the 45MM Sterns and they still wouldn't fit with 5MM spacers. Hopefully the shop you are working with will get you the 38MM if the 45s don't fit. Here is a close-up.

Great choice in wheels though...I love them.

Bill

Javamanbill - Just got back and sure enough "DIDN'T FIT". They are ordering the 38MM offset this time ... As a matter of fact, I took your tire picture down with me this time to convince them that the 38MM should work. When they tried the 45MM on, I couldn't believe how great those wheels look on my silver TL-S. So I hope the 38MM works as it did on your

I'll take some pics this weekend if it works out...
