Stealership just called about rear brake rotors/pads
Said that my rear brake rotors/pads didn't pass inspection and require service. $495
Then said that tire rotation was needed at $39
I'm currently getting the oil changed there ($40 and figured why not while getting the loaner) and getting warranty work done (3 yr 7 months; battery replacement and rattle work)
I thought tire rotation would be free, what BS. Walmart does free tire rotation with the freaking oil change....but not Acura.
Any ideas on the rear brake info? Thanks guys. I do not know car mech and don't trust dealerships.

rear rotors/pads $500?
yeah, no. don't have them do that for you. that is absurd.
how many miles on your TL and have the rotors ever been replaced?
a tire rotation is just that...rotating tires. for $39...that is also absurd. it takes them about 2 minutes to do that service.

If it is new pads and rotors then honestly I am not surprised.
A few weeks ago I had my TL serviced and they replaced the rear pads and clean/adjusted the calipers for $199. I could have bought the pads myself for around $50 and done it myself but I didn't feel like it.

Do you know how to check brake pads visually?
If not, the dealership should be writing down or typing onto the invoice either the measurements (in mm.) or percentage of pad wear left on each corner as well as the micrometer readings/measurements for the disk/rotor thickness.
If the dealership is not doing this, RUN from the place and never go there again.

Holy crap that's expensive. Take it somewhere else and get a second opinion.

WAY, WAY too expensive. That is not unusual, perhaps, for dealer parts & service, but it's still FAR more expensive than you can do on your own.
Get some decent rotors and pads (assuming the dealer is right about them being needed) and either DIY or find an indie shop that will let you provide your own parts.
You'll probably save at least a couple hundred bucks.

Where are you located as it's a possibility that someone on the Forun konws a trusted indy mechanic or someone that will do the job for less monsy?
That's about right:
Rotor list $105 each-$210
Pads list $65
Labor $125 p/hr-$250
Total $525
Not to knock your choice, but they must be some real quality parts when the Power Stop brake kit can be sold for $129 (plus shipping) for 2 cross drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads. Maybe there are different options available although I didn't see any listed.

it's a car-drive it
Many dealers offer different discounts if you sign up on their website. My dealer charges me $19.95+tax for tire rotation and balance. Still have the original brakes that were recently measured at 5mm.

2 hours for rear rotor and pad replacment? lol.
took me 30 minutes to replace all 4 rotors and pads on my TL.
I may have to start my own repair business now.

When did I mention "Power stop"? Well if you dont mind changing the rotors after being warped in few months then sure go for it quality have its price. I was just giving an example what he could get for the same price he would pay if he get the rear brake job done....

You're correct, my error, looked at Power Stop rather than Power Slot by Stop Tech. Big difference.
