A-Spec Wheels and Red center emblem... (pics?)

Hey guys...

Just received shipment of my A-spec satin finish wheels... they are beautiful and I'm getting them installed in a couple days (pictures to follow, I promise)...

One question: I noticed the center emblem caps that came with the wheels have that red backing behind them. The emblem itself is the traditional chrome but the spaces are filled in with a red translucent film. I'm pretty sure it can be peeled off. I think I've seen a couple pics of A-specs rims with the red-backed emblems... does anyone have a pic of this? Is it just a packing thing and supposed to come off? Or are cars installed with them on (I personally think it looks kinda cool)...

Here are the pics...

In case the pics don't show here are the URLs...

LOL the red is just a backing to the tape on the emblem, its meant to be taken off so that the emblem will stick to the center cap!

you're definitely entitled to your own opinion and i'm a big supporter of pioneers, but yea if you leave them on, there is a much easier chance for people to jack them off your car and also, they stick out like a sore thumb. haha

Also if you leave them on the red is only plastic it will fade fast and then you will have to break the lock washers on the back that hold the center cap on.

How much did you pay? I went to the Acura dealer yesterday and they had a new 07 TL with just A-Spec wheels/tires, no body kit or suspension. The add-on sticker was $2,350 for the wheels and $985 for the tires. Thats $3,335. WHAT ???

No... they're the "in-between" finish... the dealer called it "satin". It's definitely not as shiny as chrome, but it has more of a sheen to it than sparkle silver, which is a matte-type finish very similar to the OEM wheels.

The part number is: 08W18-SEP-200B

Got them from Westchester Acura. Very, very highly recommend those guys. Ask for Joe.

I bought mine as a set from Westchester Acura, which included the A-spec suspension and wheels (no tires). Price was $1,889 plus shipping. Your price of $2,350 for the wheels alone sounds very steep! The tires are also almost twice what you'd pay for a decent set! Plus, based on what I've read, I wouldn't recommend the Yokohama tires that the dealers usually install. There's better (and cheaper) alternatives.

... Again I highly recommend Westchester Acura as a dealer. Joe was my contact. He was very helpful and took his time explaining to me the different colors of the rims that he had in stock. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with the purchase. Check them out on eBay.

Hmm! Oops. Something I should've considered... thanks!

Oh and for the record guys, I'm well aware that this is just a red backing for the sticky portion of the emblem... but I still thought I'd ask!

Installed!! Oh man guys, my car looks so sweet! Thanks for the recommendations, too. I highly recommend this color rim, by the way. Just enough sparkle but not gawdy like full chrome. Perfect!

The real sad part about this is that they don't credit the BRAND NEW 17x8 wheels & 235/45/17 tires that they removed from the car before they put those on. They are easily worth $900+...

Also, those tires retail for $147 each ($588 set) from tirerack.com, so $985 is WAY overpriced. You can always use this info to help low-ball them though..

BTW: A new set of A-spec wheels from actual Acura dealerships can be had for $1350 on ebay...
