A-Spec suspension added on?
I just bought a 05 TL 6MT a couple of weeks ago and have a question after reading some of the posts on here - Is it possible to just get the A-Spec suspension added on now? Is this something I could possibly do at my dealership? Any idea on cost and whether or not it's worth it? Any feeback is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, Yes, your dealership can get it or you can get it on ebay. I added it along with the Comtech anti sway bar and it is a different car, one way more wirth driving. Before, I felt like I was in an Infiniti I35 around corners, now I feel more like I am in a BMW 540i. Doit! I paid $600.00 for mine + $95 for the anti sway bar and $200 for installation.

I think the dealers have to order the whole kit. My local dealer
was not willing or able to supply just the suspension part of
the kit.
I ordered the suspension kit from a dealer that has an "ebay outlet".
(Acura of Escondito), there are several dealers to choose from...
I guess the larger dealerships can afford to "part out" the full
ASPEC kit.
I had a local shop install the suspension (today!), they were significantly
less expensive than the dealer, but still not cheap...

Just as they said above, you can order just the suspension on e-bay (do a search of a-spec and you'll find it). You can even install it yourself if your so inclined. Some of us have done this since it is a fairly easy diy job. You should, as mentioned, also add the rear sway bar from comptech (comptechusa.com) which is also easy to install. Everyone is happy with these add ons.

Other than the dealer, how do you guys find reputable shops locally to do your suspension install? Also, if you don't mind me asking,, how much does it cost for the installation?

Local suspension and alignment shop was recommended to me by an independent honda and acura shop. This was after local dealers quoted approx $600 for install. Suspension shop did it for $300. I paid $600 for the kit from Acura of Escondido off ebay. Very happy with the results and would do it again in a second.

I'm really on the fence about getting this done... Does anyone here live in the Boston, MA area and have the A-Spec suspension? I'm concerned about the ride with the horrible condition of the roads here for half the year... Also, I'd probably stick with the OEM 17" rims for now but will probably upgrade the rubber at some point (maybe the Toyo Proxes 4 that get rave reviews on here)...

Concerning the feel for the road, I guess it added about 20% more feedback/feeling the bumps and 65% better handling. It does feel sportier, which was the point for the suspension & tire/wheel upgrade. I do know what you mean about the potholes … you get really good at evasive maneuvers. I use the 17" wheels along with Dunlop M3 winter tires (235/45/17) for winter and this combo seems to work well ...but the 18" rims and PZero's (245/40/18) do make a difference in performance.
I'd do all or nothing. (shocks and wheels)

I just did the upgrade yesterday with the assistance of db252. He was very helpful and in fact did a lot of the work!
In the Bay Area, I've been quoted some pretty outrageous prices for the installation - from $1100 to over $1400. The installation is not difficult - just requires some arm strength to remove some of the more stubborn nuts. It's also very helpful to have two people since one person can push up on the suspension and one person can pull down on the fork to remove it.

I'm completely happy I did it... car drives great and the ride isn't much harsher at all. I did already have 18" wheels on the car so I was used to the stiff ride already, but expected the suspension to make it worse. It actually wasn't bad.

Take a look at this article I found pitting the A-Spec TL against the Volvo S60R.

Are there any drawbacks to getting the suspension but keeping the 17'' wheels.
BTW, the only current A-SPEC kit I could find on e-bay was from Curry Acura, $700 opening bid, $750 as a buy-now price.
There is also a kit with wheels for $1900 (but no tires).
