A-Spec suspension

I went to the dealer to see if they sold the a-spec spring/shock seperately but they wouldn't do it. How much does it cost, and does anyone know a dealer in the L.A/san fernando valley area that would do it?

Where to buy A-Spec suspension kit?

I'm also interested in knowing which dealer has the best deal on the A-Spec suspension kit for an 04 6MT. I asked around and most dealers include it with the rim package. I just want the suspension kit itself and was wondering where some of you have just gotten deals on the A-Spec suspension. I can get it through the dealer, though, they're asking $900 + tax for the kit. What were some of the better prices for this kit you guys have found?

Try contacting Falconia Acura of Las Vegas or Acura of Escondido. They sell them by themselves.

Wow $900 for A-spec suspension? thats crazy. Theres a acura dealer on ebay, forgot the name, that sells the A-spec suspension by itself for $600 + shipping. Thats probably the best price that you can get and i'll will buy from them on ebay when i want to change to A-spec suspension.

Thats not too bad of a price.

Now for those who already have the a-spec suspension, how much harsher is the ride? I love the quietness of the current stock setup and would hate to lose that. I don't care much about feeling every bump, but if that increases interior volume I would have to give this a second thought. And also, will passangers notice the suspension has been changed or barely, to not at all?

thanks.

I agree, don't pay $900. It's been available from certain dealers online for almost two years now for $600-700--those quoted above. It is worth EVERY PENNY once you put it on....

Wow, the Las Vegas Acura seems like a pretty good deal. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about having me and my friend do the install if it isn't too hard.

The A-Spec suspension is a significant step-up from the stock suspension; you'll notice the improvements in handling right away. It's not harsh at all (mind you, I'm used to Comptech Sports on Koni Yellows), and it's thankfully free of any pogo effects. I've driven the stock TL as well and the first difference I noticed is that under braking, the stock TL's nose dives much more than an A-Spec TL's does. Road manners are impeccable, with the A-Spec, but passengers will certainly notice the stiffer ride. As for road noise, you'll find greater difference from changing the tires than you would from changing the suspension. The A-Spec suspension was tuned by Makoto Tamamura san, the same gentleman who did the NSX's suspension (in collaboration with Ayrton Senna), which speaks volumes in itself.

Hope this helps.

I so glad I did my aspec suspension. It was a noticable difference, and it just made the car feel right!

I've owned cars in the past where I had the stock suspension, aftermarket springs, and full coilover systems. Though it handled well, it threw off the comfort level by a large margin, even for passangers. With the A-spec, I'm glad to hear that there is no "pogo" effect. Also, would passangers know that the stock suspension has been changed, or only if their told?

My wife didn't notice the difference at all. I never told her I had the A-Spec suspension installed on my car. It's been almost two years. You saying I should finally break the silence?

For a brief review on the A-Spec suspension's function, just click "rvw" in my signature below next to the "A-Spec suspension".

I did not get the A-spec suspension because it does not give a low enfough drop, but I did get the comptech springs on Ebay at a good price. Those places the other person mentioned are good places to get from on Ebay. I got my springs from Acura of Escondido and they were easy to deal with all I did after the auction closed was call them up and finalize the deal. If you want you can probbly call them up and they will ship the to you.

I'd gladly go A-Spec if there was a way to do it without lowering the car. Given the condition of the roads here in NYC, I'm better off raising it another inch.

I believe the A-Spec suspension results in a negligible (if any) drop in ride height compared to the stock set-up. I also don't want to go with a suspension set-up that results in a significant drop in ride height because:

1. I prefer the more elegant (nearly) stock look;
2. I'd rather not attract too much attention to the car/me;
3. Like you, I also appreciate the extra ground clearance.

The Aspec drop is the whole suspension and is only a half inch drop. I bought Comptech springs which did drop the car an inch and I put on 19" wheels and have had no problems yet and it has almost been a year. Even when I got my aligment done there was no camber issue.

I believe you have to remove the back deck lid behind the rear seats to do the install. May take a while

Thats what I did but you still have to take out the back seat to put them onto the car. The bolts for the shocks are hidden uder the back seat cusion.

There is PLENTY of great info on how to install the Aspec suspension yourself. Including tips, do's and dont's, and troubleshooting various (commonly encountered) problems.

a-spec isn't that bad, and might actually be better on rough roads 'cause the vehicle will porpoise less. i'm in central jersey and get out into the 5 boroughs at least 5-10 days a month for business. it's really not a problem.
