A Spec Rims- Scratch

I have read several people complaining about the A-Spec rims and tires. I scratched one today pretty bad. I called Acura to complain and the rep said there has been a lot of complaints on them. Hopefully if we get enough people to complain they may do something with it. It sucks that I have to spend $400 for a new rim. Here is the number to call.

How is it their fault that you scratched your wheels? What are you going to complain about?

I've done this to an aftermarket rim. Just go have it fixed. Do some research and find a shop that will clean it up. It can probably be fixed unless you put a HUGE gash in the wheel. I've known people to polish it themselves with rotary tools (Dremel).

I dont think they will pay for it that is not their fault. When I first purchased the rims and brought them home I layed them down on towel so they wouldnt scratch. It is kinda nuts that the tire is smaller then the rim. What if you get a flat and lay it down and it gets scratch on the pavement. There should be a bit of meat outside of the rim. The only rims i have ever seen like this were in the ghetto. If someone got spinners and had a tiny tire on it and stretched it out to fit. My orginal 17" rims were stolen off my car in my driveway. I dont like to spend $2,000 and have this crap happen.

Your factory rims didn't come with wheel locks?

NO they didnt come with locks. Since then I have added 2 different locks on each rim. I also added a viper alarm with a 2 way pager.

There are frequently some tradeoffs associated with performance parts. The width of these wheels is not a hidden feature. You shouldn't have put them on a car if they weren't right for you.

Good luck rallying others to help you feel it is someone elses fault other than your own.

If you scratched it, it's unlikely that Acura will repair it for you. However, I can highly recomment Alloy Wheel Repair. See if they have a franchisee in your area. They just repaired one of my wheels, and you'd never know it had been scratched. Prices start at $75, and they do superb work. They'll arrange with you to pick it up, fix it, and deliver it back to you.

Not an employee of theirs, just a satisfied customer.

good to see you were trying to take care of them.

1. If you get a flat, lay it down face up (sigh)
2. meat outside the rim? Tires aren't made to protect your wheels, although some do...My Yokohama Paradas on my last set of 18s had a lip/side protector bar on them that came just past the wheel (meaty), but even so I would never lay the wheels face down on the pavement!
3. If you can't keep your wheels off the curb, maybe you need a different car or cheaper wheels.
