Spacers, at what size do I need extenders
Hey guys...
at what spacer size will I need to consider (HAVE TO) replace by studs to longer ones?
also, Im seeing bolt extenders and stud extenders online, which does our car use. Little confused on this one.
Also I'm consider 10 or 15mm spacers for the time being, gotta measure some more.

just get the ones with extended studs built in. that's what all of us do.
eBay has a metric crap ton of them to choose from.
ichiba, akata, etc.

alright well it's recommended that anything over 5mm requires extended studs.
i would just save yourself all the hassle and buy them with studs built in but that's just me. buy em, bolt em on, throw wheels on, done deal.

Just so I'm on the right track here. Spacers for our cars that are in the 10-20mm range and already come with the studs will require that we remove the OEM studs right?
Sorry, I know that's probably a very obvious answer. But I was looking online on different installs and the spacers are all thick enough where the oem studs weren't removed.
Thanks for all the help!

5 or 10mm spacers aren't going to come with studs built into them.
If you want to run 10mm you'd have to install extended studs, 5mm should be ok without.
At 15mm and above you should be able to find them with studs built into them so the spacer bolts to the hub and your wheel bolts to the spacer. Make sure to get hubcentric ones.
A 10mm spacer is too thin to support the wheel with studs, there are threads all over with some old 10mm spacer with integrated studs that broke into pieces during normal use. I think most vendors stopped making the 10mm with studs built in.
There is a DIY here for installing extended studs. The rears are easy, the front is a little more difficult.
I ground a little channel into my knuckle so I could install extended studs up front without splitting the bearing or hacking up all of the studs.
I'm not running spacers, but was only getting about 4-5 turns on my lugnuts with the wheels I have on, which is why I installed longer studs.

In the garage.

I did the same thing pretty much, but I hammered out the studs with the rear hub off the car and on a rubber mat using the same method.
Also used a lisle stud installer to seat the new studs, it's only like $20, instead of stacking washers.
Replace the rear spindle nuts - you'll need new ones when you do this.
Also on the front instead of cutting off half of the head of the stud I ground a small channel into the knuckle where you can see he slid the new studs in. That way my entire stud is intact, there's plenty of metal on the knuckle and I didn't really have to remove that much to make enough room to slide in the new studs.

Yup, which is why the only spacers id buy is the ones that has the studs built in.
