Shock Replacement

I have and 05 TL with 80k miles. My tire guy recommends replacement of the shocks due to light feathering and cupping on the inside tread of each tire. I trust him, since he does not sell or install shocks. Has anyone replaced shocks due to wear? If so, at how many miles? And what did you replace them with?

Really all depends on what set up you have or what you are looking for...are you lowered, what type of ride do you want?

^dont think thats what he was asking.

I'm not that proficient with suspension, but I dont believe worn shocks will cup your tires.
if you have feathering and cupping, there is something else going on. the alignment is off, either camber or toe.

shocks can wear out over time and performance is less than desirable.
the car might feel floaty rather than tight.
If you're looking for a direct replacement of shocks, I would go the OEM route.

KYB and Tokiko are also OE replacement options, but you may need to order them on-line.

Whatever you do, get new bushings for the top hats; perhaps even Type-S bushings for a little firmer support.
Because I think you have an alignment problem:

camber is not adjustable without a camber kit.

toe should ALWAYS = zero

camber can range from:
-1 to 0 up front
-1.5 to -0.5 in rear
