Scratched rims!
So much for the "Touch Free" Car Wash.....
I went through a touch free car wash last night to get rid of all the road salt and dirt on my car. However this "touch free" system uses a rail to guide the car through the wash.
The rail scratched both my driver's side rims. The front rim has two 1" inch scratches and the rear wheel has a nice long (and deeper), 3" scratch. To make things worse I had to go through the wash twice and its still got dirt on the hood and trunk.
I usually take it to touch free washes where the car wash arms move over the car and nothing touches it.
So here's my question:
Does anyone in Toronto (GTA) know where I can get my rims touched up like new for an affordable price? I heard some places do this for about $20/wheel, but no one knows where.
The place my dealer suggested wants $250/wheel. I called another place and they want about $100/rim.
Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that, but if you had looked at the rail mechanism you would have realized that it was risky.
I have only gone to a hand car wash every month or so. I went thru a rail touchless in prior cars and have license plates bent, and in one case, a side mirror was damaged.
What is SSM paint?

I combined about a 50/50 mix of Anthicite and SSM paint. I used a sheet of aluminum foil to mix it. I basically would put a couple of dripping brush loads of paints and then mixed with one bruch or the other. I have saved these paints for just this purpose.
I found that a little mixing and a little brushing on of the paint produced the bast combination.
I could point at the rim and you would still not be able to see where I painted.

I have to go out there and get quotes now I guess. Hopefully they will pay.
