scraped wheels
Have a question for anyone out there.
I have an 05 TL and have accidentally scraped a roadside curb and as a result have damaged the left front wheel. I was wondering if it can be repaired or touched up or does it have to be replaced? The wheels are factory stock issue not aftermarket, but the scrape is bad enough (approx 1 1/2 inches long) that it has damaged the aluminum. I guess it serves me right for being so stupid, but was trying to park the car far enough away from the vehicle next to me in a lot, and as a result I hit the curb. Any information that anyone has out there would be appreciated. Thanks.

you can always bondo, sand, then touch up with a bit more bondo then sand again, then primer the spot, paint, then another layer of paint, then wet sand it. Comes out like new.

We have scraped the wheels a couple of times (have not fixed the latest scrape yet) and a return to the dealership took care of it. Our dealership has a wheel guy that comes in once a weeka dn fixes wheels. The looked brand new when repaired and it cost us $100 to fix both wheels. I am sure there are plenty of tire/ wheel shops that could do the same for less but it was very convinent since I had to take the car to the dealership anyway and was able to "borrow" a car while they were fixing them and doing the "normal" maintenance. Good luck!!!

When I bought my TL it had a scrape about 1/3 of the way around the front left wheel. pointed it out to the dealership and they sent it over to a body shop in town. They fixed it and it looks brand new. So try the local body shops... the good ones will should do it right.

I just had all 4 of my TL rims repaired...used the mobile wheel repair guy..he came right out to my house and did them. $75 each, they look perfect now, you can't even tell where they were repaired they did such a good job. Took about 2-2.5 hours start-finish.
