Is it safe to let Costco install new tires
I'm probably going to purchase a set of new tires from Costco, but I'm wondering if it's safe to let them install the tires...I'm really concerned about the TPMS. Do I need to be concern? Could they damage the TPMS in anyway?
Thanks.
Thanks.

One on the right for me
If they have an install shop on site its probably safe to assume they know what they are doing. On the off chance they do mess anything up - have them pay for the fix. The costco in my area does a good job.

Just be sure you have alerted them to the TPMS and maybe take some pics of the wheels (with time and date on the picture file) just before the work is done. Also, tell them you love your car like Schwarzenegger did in the beginning of Kindegarten cop (yeah, I know it's from long ago)

I think it depends on the shop and the employees. Someone I work with had tires replaced at BJ's (wholesale club like Costco in the NE) and had to go back twice to get the tires balanced properly. No problem with the rims or car, just balancing.

I'd trust them to do it. They are a big enough company that they will take care of you on the off chance that they do screw up your wheels.
I would double check the torque on the lugnuts when you get home, I've never had a shop torque my wheels properly on anything I've taken in.

They should know how to deal with the tpms they probably do these all the time, the only way that they can damage the sensors is if they put the beak breaking arm too close to the sensor it will crush the sensors plastic housing, its actually pretty easy to break a sensor i have broken one myself, just remind them to be careful when breaking the bead!

I was thinking they must have dealt with cars that have TPMS before. I'll go ahead and give them a shot. In the unlikely event something is damaged, they will pay for it.

on a side note, see if you can tell them not to put that stupid plastic number cone on top of your car, or at least put it on the moonroof instead. That thing will sure to scratch your paint if it slides around.

I haven't really checked out Costco's tire offerings, but now we're on the topic, which tires would you guys recommend that they carry? Also, does anyone know how much they charge for an alignment?

does costco or BJ's or Sam's use the hunter road force machines? If not, i wouldn't go there.

That stupid plastic number thing has a magnet in the base, would not grip so well on the moonroof!
If really concerned, ask them to put a paper towel under it
Why dont you have a serious wax on your car to protect from simple scratches?

NO ONE is putting one of those number things on my roof, and it is fully protected with wax. Come to think of it I havent seen that dino technology for car tracking in years!

Better than people at wheel works burning off the rest of the remaining tires before swapping out. And yes, those number hats are just evil!
