Rusty Comptech RSB from installation.

I installed my RSB MLK Day 2 weeks ago with a co worker on our day off. It was a pain in the butt to put this thing together. We did it, however.. we scratched parts of the bar. We should of lowered the exhaust but we managed to get it in position. I was worried about it rusting, but I just said I'll wait.

I went under the car to retightened the bushings and bolts this past Friday. I did find some rusting on some parts of the bar. Now I have extra work to do. I did go my local walmart to purchase sandpaper, paint brushes, and Krylon Paint.

My question, should I just take off the RSB and sand and repaint the whole thing, or should I just be concerned with only the sections where there is rust? Should I not worry at all? Dumb question, but just wondering since this is the first time I installed a RSB. Thank you all.

Its up to you and if it bothers you. I would just take it off, have it blasted.....ah....screw that...if I went to all that trouble...I would just buy a new one and do it right this time. They are only like $95. You would have more time and effort messing with it in my opinion....than it would take to just put a new one on. Myself...I would prob just forget it for a while and think about it later. If you still feel the same in the summer...swap it out or paint it....which ever suits ya! Rust is not that big of a deal here....most OEM domestic sways are COVERED in rust...lol.

Now if I could just get rid of this little annoying follower I have....

Surface rust is common, it's unavoidable. Look at your spindles... Mine showed surface rust at delivery

Repaint it if you like, but I think it's a waste of time. It'll take MANY years before the rust would compromise the function of the bar... and when that happens, it's $100 for a new one... but it's highly unlikely you'll even still have the car 10-15 years from now, when that rust may present an issue.

Wow... you guys seem confident. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it every once in a while. Damn.. if only I did more of research on here, then I wouldn't have scratched my RSB.
