Rim guy says they'll work?

In my quest for rims I called a local rim manufacturer of Vault wheels in Brooklyn ,I gave him the vehicle specs and he said that the rims would fit no problem and that he's sold hundreds of rims to 99-up TL owners ,Then I asked him the offset and he said 39mm I was like That sh#t wont work after reading all the informative posts on here but then he said because the wheel has a lip on it that it "makes up for it" ?? The specs on the rims are 18x7.5 39offset ,I know theres a guy on here who's had them I think his name is Bigman and I'd luv to hear the specs that he used and any opinons would be appreciated ,Thanks

They will fit AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT LOWERED

Fitting is one thing, but being able to drive with them without rubbing is a different story.. the rubbing against the fenderwell can lead to premature wear and damange to your tires..

Lower offsets just look like ass, because it makes the wheels stick out so far to the sides.. having wheels stick out like that is just nasty..

If the rubbing and wheels sticking out don't bother you, then go for it.. but it would drive me crazy.. Rims are a big investment, you should do your best to do it right, otherwise you will regret it later on..

bigman actually has +38 offset on his 18x8 ADR Kasai wheels and experienced rubbing issues.

"lip on it that makes up for it" :o That's funny!

+39 will not work even if your not lowered. You will rub on every turn and every bump. To be on the safe side, get at least +45 with 225 tires.

I rub in the rear on occasion with comptechs and 18*7.5 with a +42 offset........that guy is trying to make a sale, or he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Mine's 18x7" +42 offset, and NOT lowered. Even with this, the rear tires scrap the metal fender on bumps when the car is fully loaded. So with +39 offset, don't even think about it.

The key word is BROOKLYN. Anything will fit in Brooklyn..... Don't take a risk, you will rub.
