Request for offset advice

Today is my best day for a while to deal with buying new wheels, and I have a question. I am considering two wheels:

1. 19X8.5, 35 offset, about 300 each, want to do 245/35 tires
2. 19X9, 38 offset, about 200 each, want to do 245/35 tires

I am pretty sure the 8.5 +35 will fit, but I prefer both the design and price of the 9 +38. Will the 9 +38 with 245 tires fit an 06 automatic base front and rear? I am not lowered and don't plan to be.

In theory, not much of a difference between the two wheels as 9s will stick out 3mm but the tires will be little bit stretched vs 8.5 width with same tires.

Just remember that tire is what's going to rub the car and not the wheel.. So, even though width and offset is important, tire choices will also make a difference.

I have tried Michelin PS2s and also Advan Sports and Advans sit bit wider than PS2.

True. I guess if it is likely to be that close, maybe I should look at a less aggressive offset. The 8.5's also come in a 40 offset, but if I want to go less aggressive with the others, I'm stuck with an 8 width, 38 offset.

Hmm.. 5mm isn't much. May I ask which rims you are looking at?

The ones I was really interested in were Luxe Lx10, but I have been told by so many people they won't fit that I have decided to go in a different direction. I appreciate the responses.

Dm6, you shouldn't have any issues. I'm running 19x8.5, with 38 offset, lowered about 1.5", no fender roll and I have no issues.

I think you guys are missing the part where he said he's not planning on lowering his car. You shouldn't have any real issues with either of those. Only after a drop do things really become a concern.
