Replica OEM 2007 Base rims on Ebay any good?

In the summer I brought my car in to Acura and complained that my steeringwheel feels loose, and shakes from left to right at times.. After an inspectionthe dealer (stealer) said all 4 of my rims are bent, and the thread left on 2/4tires are not legally safe.

The car handles fine butI just have to put up with the shakes once in a while.. Anyway.. This spring Iam going to buy new tires, and I am thinking about replacing my 2 front rims sothat it might help the shaking.

This guy on eBay has a good price but they are replicas.

Has anyone bought them? and have you noticed any difference (color, ride, quality) with the factory rims?

Dont buy replicas; just search the black market for some used oem and go with those.

Should be fine if in fact the wheels have passed the following as stated:

Made to DOT, SAE, JWL, TUV Standards.
DOT (US Dept. of Transportation)
SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)
JWL (Japan Light Alloy Wheel Standard)
TÜV (German regulatory agency)

Can't be any worse than the '04/'06 wheels that bend when just looking at them.

I see no issue with the ebay wheels. Literally thousands sold. I would be much more skeptical about used wheels. No way to validate they are round, not dented or don't have cracks at least initiated. I was thinking of buying some off ebay. Not guessing what was the real situation with the oem wheels I had the car put on a lift at the Firestone who does my tire work and found one was cracked and one was out of round. I put on my spare set of A-Spec wheels in the meantime and decided I am not going back to 17". The takeaway, I would buy those wheels from ebay but think about if you may want to upgrade.

I have Type S replica rims from Tobacco Road. I use them with my winter tires and they've been great so far. Seem identical except the color is darker than the originals. The center caps work fine with them too.

I would upgrade but not at the moment. Plus my car is silver so the stock rims match my car perfectly. Also bigger rims means bigger price tag on tires I have to buy, and would be out of the budget. I will want a jpipe, and tints for the summer.

I think I am going to go for them. I will buy 2 and see how they go. The only risk is if the color doesnt match my other two stock rims like jon2000 said . Anyway I think it still better then used rims, and OEM rims that would cost alot more. If they are crap I will take the small loss but if they are good I think its a great deal.

Replicas are all I buy now when I have to replace a wheel because I find them more resistant to bending than the OEM wheels, even the refurbished OEM's. And believe me, I've had to replace enough bent wheels with the shitty roads here in the NYC/NJ area to know.

Buy whatever is cheaper. replica or real. wont matter and no one will be able to tell us u look on inside of rim

id save up a little more and buy aftermarket wheels before buying another stock set.

Sweet! Congrats on the 1st post too! I'd rather have new replicas than someone's used curbed/beat-up wheels. Here's a pic of mine that I use for winter:

Those look good jon2000. Can you post more pics of them on your car? Whole body shots?
I also have a SSM TL and would like to know how those would look on mine.

I'm guessing you have a drop too though, right?

Thanks! I have the A-spec suspension on there. You can click on the the link in my signature which will bring you to the progress thread. I have a few pics showing the rims on page 2. The car is on an incline in the pics so it actually looks a bit lower when on flat ground.

What did you guys use for the tobacco road replica center caps?
I would like to change out my stock rims with a set and not sure oem caps will match.
Did Tobacco Road sell matching caps too?

I used OEM caps for my Type S reps but sprayed them a couple shades darker to match the charcoal rims.

^ that's exactly why I bought the reps. It was buy these for $500 or buy OEM for $1100.

with stock center cap:

inside of wheel:

center caps painted - I removed the black center logo since the paint wasn't bonding properly. The lighter color is the original center paint.

Filthy - mid winter!

Yep, I too refuse to pay for oem curbed condition and price.
You guys know if s and base use the same center caps?
What paint in a rattle can did you find that matches these wheels?

Thank you for posting up pictures.
Would like to add s type lighting and possibly exhaust tips since looks like I will be driving this car another 5 years min. Appreciate all the help.

jon, what kind of spray paint did you use to do the center caps? I will be purchasing a set of replica Type-S wheels soon and yours look nice. Also, are those the original lug nuts?

Thanks! I have about 10 cans of graphite and gray spray cans around here but I'm pretty sure it was a Duplicolor graphite/gunmetal spray can. I'll see if I can locate the exact item name. I believe in the pics above I was using some Gorilla spline drive lugs with some acorn to ball seat washers/adapters. I polished up my stock lugs and plan to use those this winter with these wheels.

I just pulled the trigger on a set for my 2005. I'm thinking that they will look great since my car color is Anthracite Metallic. Now time to order center caps and wheel lugs.
