Refinishing Type S wheels

I bought some type s wheels on e-bay for a steal but they are scatched to high heaven. I called some local shops and the prices I was getting was like 150. I am trying to figure out if this is too steep? If this price is to steep where can I get a better deal? Oh it's 150 a wheel plus mounting and balancing.

So 150 does seem a little steep? Are these places all local? Do they take stuff from out of state?

Consider doing it yourself? It's not that hard, but requires time and patience.

I don't understand how they take a chipped rim (not a big chip, but a curb chip) and make it look new... If you are missing a small amount of the rim, does this mean you can't get them refinished?

So basically they are screwing me with the price then? I have yet to find a place that will do it for a hundred. If I could do it myself I would but they are really scatched up.

Thats sounds right. My Konig imagines were going to cost about 130 to repair.

BlackTL: They add material to the wheel. Usually through welding. This creates a lump, then they grind it down so it looks like they just filled in the hole. Then they paint, wheel looks like new.
