Quick question about spring compression

So I was attempting to lower my car a tad more yesterday, and I noticed I couldn't go any lower. Not because I maxed out, but because my spring was completely uncompressed. I got to a point where the spring kind of just sat there and the screw/lock mech. on the Tein coilover could go another inch almost. I quickly raised it up by compressing it like hell because I knew that couldn't be good. Any suggestions/advice? I know I still have a lot of room to go lower, how come the spring completely depressed?

was it still weight unloaded- car in the air?
Tein has more thread space than you can use- read the specs for your car and see what the min max amount is- www.heeltoeauto.com has all of them listed

i'm assuming you're raising the car up to adjust it... so if there's no weight on the spring, it's normal for it to have some space

Yeah, the car was jacked up, however i've seen TL's much lower than me. In fact, I don't even think i'm lower than 1.6"
