Question for those who have put 18" wheels on their stock TL's

I recently purchased the 18" a-spec wheels for my future TL. I have a question for those of you who have gone with a larger wheel.

Did the larger wheels take away from the ride of the car a noticable amount? Does the car ride rougher with 18's?

I have 245, 18, 40's

You bought wheels before you bought the car?!

Weird...

After my stock tires wore out at 30k on my 04 5AT I went to 18" rims and 255/35ZR18 Falken ST-115's. I didn't notice any difference in the ride, but road noise was reduced. However, I saw a 1-2 mpg drop.

I'd be willing to bet that is due to the 255's.

I got the 04 wheels, gun metal, with brand new tires $1300 plus shipping. The guy lived close enough for me to pick them up so it was $1300 flat.

Did you notice gas mileage issues?

I know gas is relatively expensive now, but are you really worried about 1-2mpg difference? My milage varies more than that every weeek depending on how aggressive I drive.

When I put my 18's on, the ride was slightly firmer, but still not harsh. It is something that I got used to within a week or two.

Good choice CBR

I am running on 245 x 40 x 18's with Nitto 555

No problems or issues with noise or rough ride.Absolutely love it.

you rmileage may go down, but the outside circumference of the new wheel/tire combo is probably higher, so your speedo is most liekly off, and you are actually travelling further than you think.

Acceleration and braking will be negatively affected ever so slightly while handling should increase modestly. Those are the normal trade offs with plus 1 or 2 upgrades.

The Aspec 18's are the same overall size as the factory 17's (bigger wheel and lower profile tire). You shouldnt see and mpg difference because of the wheel size diff. You will notice that the ride is a little firmer, not harsh but just a little firmer. The Falken tires are quieter that the Bridgestones that come on the car so you will have a firm/sporty fell while keeping the road noise down.

I have a second generation TL, and I went from 215/50/17 to 235/40/18. I would say the ride was significantly harsher especially with HR sport springs as well. Definitely worth it though
