Question regarding steering column shaft

I recently took my steering column apart to replace my dashboard and all I did was take the four bolts and nuts out to lower the column and as I was trying to put it all back the upper shaft slid out of the lower shaft. Well I was unaware until today that there are marks to align the two shafts. My question is...What is the outcome if they are not aligned with the marks? The steering is fine, just hate to go take it all back apart to align to marks, but I guess they are their for a reason. Any input would be much appreciated!

Post any and all pic you can take. Idk if you followed the DIY that is on here? If you could add any and all photo's there as well. If I can't get Acura to do anything regarding my dash, I may go the DIY route. The steering column thing was one of my worries.

how how much did you pay for new dashboard?

I fixed the issue today with the column shaft. It was really bothering me so I just simply took the steering wheel off, lowered the column and pulled it right out of the lower shaft and lined up the marks and its good to go. Now that its correct I can say I did notice some play in the steering when driving, now its back to being firm and feeling like normal. As for the dashboard, I got it off ebay for $250 with $100 shipping. It was in great condition! Totally worth all the trouble! Thanks for the reply btw

^Thank you!

As I said before (I know it's difficult at the time) if you have any pics or tips please share! It would help the community out! Did you have the service manual for instructions?
