Question About Work Emotion CR KAI Setup

Hello, i was wondering if its okay for the wheels to be all 18x9.5. The offset is +20. I have a 07 tl type s. Also which tire size would be good? I want the tires to be a little beefy. Sorry for all questions.

Not sure if that's going to fit. I have Work Meister S2R on my other car, which is essentially the two-piece forged version of the wheel you are looking at. It's 18x9.5 +22mm, and it stuck out past the fenders quite a bit when I test fitted it on the TL.

Work usually has two styles of each rim. "Big Disk" and "Big Brake", so it's hard to compare offsets without knowing which style you are looking at.

If you want a "beefy" look on a 18x9.5", you'll want at least a 275/40-18. That's what I'm running. The sidewall is perfectly perpendicular to the wheel. (According to tire-rack, that's the optimum width for that size wheel) You might need a shorter sidewall tho... When I test fitted a 245/45-18 on the TL (which is the same size sidewall) it was almost touching the fender.

Oh I see. So even if I go with a smaller tire size it still won't work?

It depends on the wheel you have. I know Work has two styles of wheels. One preferences brake clearance, the other preferences a bigger lip. So on my other car, I have one style on the front and the other on the rear, so even tho the offsets are near identical, one will clear the brakes, while the other has a bigger lip.

I'm not sure which style the Emotion CR KAI uses... If it uses the same one my wheels do, then it won't work... Since the CR KAI doesn't have a lip, perhaps it's the Big Brake style. However, that's what I have on my other car on the front, and those are +25, and those didn't fit the TL either.

Only thing I can say is either find someone with those wheels, or ask the place you bought the wheels from... The place I bought my Work Wheels from was very informative/helpful with that.

+20 is to much for our cars. I just purchased the Work Cr-Kiwami 18x9.5 +30 and it fits great. I think that I did a test fit with a spacer to simulate a +20 offset and there is no way to pull it off without a lot of modification.

Stick to the +30 an if you want to run a 5 mm spacer then go for it.

I was also running a 235/35 tire and it was stretched resulting in some chip to the wheel lip. I just ordered 265/35 tires to replace the 235. The 265 should be more "square"

The 275 would be a little more beefy but if you are lowered at all you might run in to some trouble.

This one is with the +30 and my 15mm spacer. I know that with the spacer the setup would resemble a +15 offset but I figured that it would be closer to what the +20 offset wheel would look like.

After looking at these I feel that the +20 will poke out a bit much and I am not sure that my car could pull off such a poke.
Will it work? Yes, with enough $, time, and effort...

Is it worth it to make it work? No

If you want to try and make it work, then go for it. Keep me posted

Was probably a typo, I think he meant 245/40, as those are the same height as the 225/45 he said he was also looking at.

I think the seller is full of it. He said it will fit a TSX.. The TSX had more conservative requirements than the TL, I have a hard time believing it will fit. Then in the picture of the TL, he admits you have to run a very aggressive setup, but he showed a picture of different wheels, so we don't know if those have the same offset.

Sry for bumping this thread but I just brought 18" work emotion Kai 8.5 with +38 offset. Will this fit or would I need to run a 5 or 8mm spacer?

You will need to run a spacer up front to clear the Brembos. If I remember correctly, I think 5 mm would do. Good luck
