Question About Tire Replacement

I am sure this has been mentioned or might have been answered before...

How did people know they needed to have their tires replaced? What type of vibrations did people experience?

I am just curious as, I need to get the seat memory replaced, and I was wondering if I should mention the tires too. (But wanted to check to see if I was indeed experiencing the same thing you all were, before I go wasting time.)

Thanks,

Jim

What's VIN series? You may or may not already have the "newer" tires. (not that always fixes it though!) The feeling is most commonly felt as a vibration under neath you - under the floor boards vibrating up through your butt. Only happens on cold tire that has not been moved for several hours (overnight is common)

I think some people have complained about vibration in the steering wheel...that was not my experience.

The feeling goes away as the tire warms up.

Mostly flatspotting and vibrations. If they don't feel right to you, or feel much different from other cars, then you may have a problem. You should go to the Tire and Wheels forum and read the three recent threads there, which will explain a lot.

With that vin series you certainly have the original EL-42's, unless you got the optional tires. The EL-42 is the one with the problems.

Thanks.

I've noticed some of the things I've read in the other threads. (e.g hydro planning) Sounds like I might have a problem...

Hopefully you don't have all of issues listing below.

Some of early built 04TLers have complained:

1. EL42s tires... dealer will replace your tires with so-called "new" EL42s.
2. ECU firmware udpate... dealer will reload/refresh your firmware to eliminate the issue of "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" ON. (sometimes, this won't )
3. Memory Seat module... the memory lost, dealer will replace the module after diagnosing.

Remember, I do not say you'll have these issues... but some of early VINs' cars have them all.

Thanks for the info.

Haven't notice the Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Have the seat problem, I wanted to check on the tire thing before I call on that!

You can tell which EL-42 tire you have by reading the code on the sidewall after DOT.

TU2 = is the latest version, if this is what you have then you will not receive a replacement.

PVC = is the original tire that Acura is replacing.

People report similar problems even after the tires have been replaced.

Just checked the tires. They are indeed the PVC version.
