Question about Potholes

I was driving along yesterday at night and all of a sudden WHAM I ran over a pretty big pothole that I couldn't see, I was wondering how likely it is that the car can be damaged by running over potholes (I was thinking maybe it throws the tire out of alignment?) and has this happened to any TL owner here?

I hit one pretty hard in my CL and it through off my alignment a bit and put an impact bubble on the side of my tire. But I hit it pretty hard. I would think if you did any damage you would know. If you werent braking when you hit it and you just went straight over it I think you're okay. my

Damn that sucks about what happened to your CL, I drove for about 10 minutes after running over it and I thought it felt a little weird but that was probably just paranoia

That is how I bent my first rim - big pothole on Rt 287 in NJ. Felt the bent rim right away. We took the wheel off the car and even without aid of any equipment you could see it pushed in on one side. Never had that happen before - but this is also my first car with such low profile tires and perhaps softer than other rims I have had on previous cars. Tire was/is fine as I am still using it today. Rim sits in my attic in a body bag.

You should expect it! It happened to me all the time when i had 19's on my previous TL. Even though you drive normal, something will suprise you when you least expect it. I was loosing air pressure in my tires and figured out I can hammer the rim out from the back and it was fine after that.

I ran over some sort of object on road yesterday. About an inch thick wood stick? Hmmm I hope it didn't do anything. I checked air pressure and seems normal

i was driving behind a semi yesterday that was hurling shredded sheets of drywall through the air at me and a benz. pretty crazy trying to avoid chunks of drywall flying at your car. by the second time this happened the benz and I were having a competition to see who could avoid the most shit flying. interstate slalom driving, I didn't know the TL could handle as well as it did for the speed we were going(bout 65/70mph).
