Plug and Play

First off, let me apologize for being lazy.

I have really scratched up rims (from previous owner) and I'd like to put something nicer on. Unfortunately, I live out in Hawaii so shipping kills most of the Black Market or online vendor deals.

I tried reading the "Will this fit my car" thread, but it didn't really answer my question.

Are there any rims/wheels that will fit a base 2008 TL perfectly so that there is no need for anything other than putting them on. On my 2nd Gen TL I used 05 TSX rims which worked out perfectly. So I'm looking for something that will work similarly. Hopefully, same size (are the stock rims 17"?) or maybe 1" bigger at most. I know the type S and Aspec rims work and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something will come up locally in my price range.

I saw some people mentioning using Infinity or Accord rims. But most times I saw them mention the need for spacers and others things I'd like to avoid as I'm mechanically deficient.

Thanks

If you don't use Type-S Rims or Aspec rims, chances are any aftermarket rim you buy you are probably going to have to put hubcentric rings on them. They are extremely CHEAP and just pop onto the back of the rim. You can get them off of eBay for like $5. The TL has a hub bore of 64.1 and most aftermarket wheels you look at will probably be 73.1 so if you don't put the hubcentric rings on most likely you are going to get a lot of vibration at higher speeds. Also make sure you buy the correct bolt pattern, which is 5x114.3

the factory wheels are 17x8 and I think an offset of +40

if you want an out of the box fitment, you'll need to find an aftermarket rim that has the same specs or a little more aggressive than the stock 17x8 +40
which requires you to look and search.

anything less than this spec 17x8 +40 will be too weak for the car.

17x8.25 won't need a tire stretch, right?

Base 08 TL is going to be an auto with the smaller brakes. That opens up a lot of choices for you. Most non super-aggressive fitments have no trouble on auto brakes. The only other Q is if you're lowered? I suspect not.

Are you only looking at something you might find used on the island, or are you willing to ship something in providing it will fit?

it depends on your goals.

8.25 is a weird width.
I'm not a wheel expert, but the common ones are 8 inches and 8.5

but back to your goals.
what do you want fitment wise?
are you looking to be stanced, hella flush, etc????
people stretch tires, so that they can fit a wider rim while lowering the car to the extreme.

XXR website says they come in 7 or 8.25 width for 17's. Sorry to derail, just trying to pick some out

^they are going to fit and look like stock with the 8.25 width
if it were me, I'd choose an XXR wheel that is a little bit wider.
when viewing the car from behind(DAT ASS), I enjoy a wider look!

totally up to you tho

Huh. How wide of a tire would i need to get to fit a 9.75? I have 235's, would they work? I'd like to possibly keep these tires.

that would be a stretch.
and im not sure if that would be do-able.

but its all dependent on what your needs and wants are.
if you want to re-use the stock tire, by all means get the 8.25 width

I'd be willing to ship if its affordable.

My TL is pretty stock, other than some LED mods.
